🌈 What makes Rainbow Club different?
Learning to swim involves managing a lot at once: the feel of the water, noise around the pool, instructions and unfamiliar movements. For some members, these can take as much effort as the swimming skill itself.
Our teachers get to know each member’s sensory and communication needs and adapt their lessons around them. They build in sensory breaks when needed and use adaptive tools and aids to help members understand and practise swimming skills.
They also recognise that behaviour is a form of communication. What looks like disruption can be a member expressing discomfort, uncertainty or sensory overload. Our teachers look for those signals and adjust the activity, communication or pace of the lesson to support the swimmer.
