We hosted the 2026 General Practice in Addiction (GPADD) Conference in Melbourne last week.

The event brought together GPs and healthcare professionals from across Australia for two days of practical learning, discussion and connection.

This year's theme, The Bread and Butter of AOD in General Practice, highlighted the important role GPs play in supporting patients affected by alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues, and reinforced that this is everyday work in general practice.

Our President Dr Michael Wright joined Prof Jeremy Grummet, Prof Jeff Dunn AO and Katie Clift on a panel for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia to discuss new guidelines for early detection of prostate cancer.

There is updated guidance for GPs, and patients about when to discuss PSA testing, when to stop and when to refer.

More targeted information for GPs and patients is being developed by RACGP and PCFA.
