What a fantastic week in Queensland at , an initiative of Queensland Gives.

We loved being part of such a dynamic program – hosting two sessions and connecting with peers across so many insightful conversations throughout the week.

One of our highlights was our ‘Grow Your Advisory Offering’ session, supporting accountants, lawyers, and wealth managers to integrate philanthropy into their practice. Thank you to Will Beresford (Koda Capital) for sharing valuable insights on how philanthropy can deepen client relationships.

It was also a pleasure to host our first ‘Generosity Across Generations’ session, where ACF Fundholders shared how they are strengthening family connections through their giving and carrying values across generations. Thank you to our panellists, Megan Freshwater, Andrew Clatworthy, Paul Delemarre, and Jo Tidball for sharing what you’ve learned in your giving journeys.

A special congratulations to ACF Fundholder Tyler Miscannon from River North Community Foundation on being named Emerging Philanthropist of the Year.

Congratulations also to ACF Fundholder Scott Williams from Noosa Community Foundation on being named a finalist for Community Philanthropist of the Year.

We’re grateful to have been part of such an inspiring week and to be working alongside so many incredible individuals and organisations driving meaningful change.

Are you rushing your EOFY giving? There's a better way.

EOFY compresses generosity into a single moment. But the best giving decisions often take time.

If you’re thinking about giving this financial year, starting a charitable fund before June 30 allows you to act now – and thoughtfully decide where your support will have the greatest impact over time.

It’s a way to move from reactive donations to intentional, long-term impact. You can receive a tax deduction this financial year, while taking the time to give well over the coming months and years.

Getting started takes as little as a day – from $10,000 through to major gifts, with no setup fees.

The Bruce Wong Foundation is now accepting applications for a new grant round supporting multicultural communities across Australia.

Local, grassroots organisations are encouraged to apply – especially those who haven’t received funding elsewhere. Grants of up to $10,000 are available, with priority given to underserved and underrepresented groups facing barriers to funding and resources.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Thursday at the Community of Giving to celebrate the Melbourne launch of the Impact Fund’s 2026 Catalyst Program.

It was wonderful to share the Impact Fund’s refreshed approach and to introduce our 2026 Catalyst Grant Partner, RE-Alliance. As Andrew Bray and Susan Findlay Tickner from RE-Alliance shared, there is a great opportunity in supporting farmers to come together for climate and a just transition.

As funders, our role is to back this work and help it flourish. Australian Communities Foundation has committed $90,000 over three years from the Impact Fund to support this work, and we invite our community to join us as we work towards the $300,000 funding goal.

Want to support this work? You can make a contribution to the Catalyst Grant via your ACF Fund or donate by credit card: https://communityfoundation.org.au/impact/impact-fund/get-involved-impact-fund/

With Australia hosting Women Deliver 2026, we’re at a pivotal moment for advancing gender equity.

Public attention is growing across issues, including gender‑based violence, economic inequality, reproductive rights, and women’s leadership, renewing pressure to move from commitments to action.

Here are six gender equity organisations delivering locally led, systems‑focused solutions for lasting change. These opportunities offer Fundholders meaningful ways to invest in long‑term, intersectional change for women and gender‑diverse people.

When bushfires devastated Victoria’s Strathbogie region in January, a rapid, community-led response made all the difference.

Working with Australian Communities Foundation, the Strathbogie Disaster Relief Fund was established in just four days, enabling rapid, locally informed support to flow directly to individuals, families and small businesses.

"That responsiveness was critical," says Carolyn Munckton, who sits on the Fund's advisory committee. "We were able to set up something fit-for-purpose, right when the community needed it most."

Using ACF’s new Community Charity, the Fund was able to:
• Distribute direct grants to people affected
• Respond to local priorities in real time
• Complement traditional recovery funding

Within weeks, meaningful support was already reaching households – helping people take their next step at a moment when it mattered most.

More than 1,500 civil society leaders came together at Progress 2026 to grapple with the challenges and possibilities shaping Australia’s future.

From democracy and economic fairness to climate action, there was a shared sense that sustaining progress in this moment will require deep collaboration and long‑term commitment.

At Australian Communities Foundation, we’re thinking hard about what these conversations mean for philanthropy – and how we can play our role as a connector between people who give and the community leaders meeting this moment with courage and clarity.

We’re proud to support Progress 2026 and to work alongside organisations engaging with the big ideas shaping a fairer, more just future.

Thank you to Kon Karapanagiotidis OAM, Dugald McNaughtan and everyone else at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre for so generously hosting some of our Fundholders and staff today at the flagship Home of Hope.

It was a remarkable experience to get a behind‑the‑scenes look at the work they do to support, empower, and advocate for refugees and people seeking asylum. A special highlight was sharing a delicious community lunch featuring dishes from around the world.

Australian Communities Foundation is proud to support the ASRC and its vital work for a thriving and more inclusive Australia.

Compassion has always been the driving force behind Deborah Holmes OAM and the volunteer-run Avalon Centre – a not-for-profit organisation built on meeting unmet need with humanity and care.

In a recent Q&A, Deborah reflects on grassroots action, resilience, and how the Avalon Circle Future Fund at Australian Communities Foundation helps sustain meaningful, values-aligned change for people too often left behind.
