The Global EV Alliance, of which AEVA Australian Electric Vehicle Association is a member, is conducting a worldwide survey of EV drivers. The survey takes approximately 7 minutes to complete. It’s anonymous, and the results will be publicly available after the survey closes on 6 October. Please help the global EV community by filling in the survey ASAP.

The survey isn’t just global. It also provides valuable country-level insights into EV adoption and driver experiences. Your response can help improve charging infrastructure, consumer information, and EV policies in your country.

AEVA celebrates World EV day – Our Time is Now.

Since 1972 the Australian Electric Vehicle Association has been promoting, and an active leader in, the electrification of all forms of transport including passenger and freight vehicles.

On World EV Day 2026 ‘Switching Electric: driving down the cost of motoring’ (https://www.worldevday.org/) we celebrate the continuing uptick in adoption of battery electric vehicles across Australia.
Latest sales data shows that Australians are rapidly turning their backs on petrol and diesel cars and are choosing to drive down their costs of motoring through switching to clean, smart, cost-effective cars. One in four new cars being purchased across Australia now is battery electric. Data released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) this month show a record 27,089 full battery electric vehicles were sold in August, the highest number ever. The 24.9% market share beat the 23.5% record set in June, and is the third month in a row where EVs took a greater than 20% share.

This graph shows the fraction of light vehicles newly registered in the ACT that are battery electric. For three years, new BEVs sat resolutely unchanging at about 18% despite occasional months above 20%. Then, early this year, the trend abruptly changes reaching 44% in August.

ACT AEVA members celebrating the ACT car fleet reaching 5% electric this week. Just six years ago there were 400 BEVs in Canberra. Now it is over 17,000, which is 1 in 20 of all cars.
