Congratulations to Carla Davey, Kimberley Bridge and Fiona Smith on representing the Fitzroy-Derby Water Working Group at the AIATSIS Summit 2026.

Their presentation highlighted the importance of Traditional Owner-led water planning and the collective work being undertaken across the Kimberley to ensure Aboriginal voices are central to decisions about water on Country.

This significant project has brought together 19 Prescribed Bodies Corporate and two claim groups to develop recommendations that reflect the aspirations, rights and responsibilities of Traditional Owners. We acknowledge the leadership of the Working Group and the Kimberley Land Council in supporting this important process.

The future of water management in the Kimberley affects all of us. Community members are encouraged to learn more about the draft Fitzroy-Derby Water Resource Management Plan and consider making a submission before consultation closes on 30 June 2026.

Well done to everyone involved in this important work.
