It was a pleasure to be part of the 2026 Lunguarra Festival!

A big well done to the Looma community and families for putting together such a great weekend. It was wonderful to see so many families and communities coming together to play sport, share music, sing together and connect.

A great celebration of community, culture and connection. Well done to everyone involved! 👏🏾❤️

Community Connection

🏀❤️ ‘Nothing makes me prouder than seeing the whole Pandanas community come together through sport’ says Colin Fuller, Senior Development Officer.

What started as a sports program has become so much more. Every week, children, young people, parents, and Elders gather at the courts to play, laugh, support one another, and build stronger connections.

One of the biggest signs of success is seeing the kids take ownership of the games themselves. They choose teams, select captains, and keep sport going even when I'm not there. Through this, they are developing leadership, confidence, and decision making skills.

A highlight is arriving in community and hearing children call out, "Garnduwa, Garnduwa!" as they come running from all directions to join in.

Sport is creating a safe space where everyone belongs, relationships are strengthened, and healthy habits are encouraged through active play, fresh fruit, and plenty of water.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support and be part of this journey. ❤️

🏉 FOOTY IS THE WINNER 🏉

A great opportunity for Fitzroy Valley Under 15 boys to recently travel to Halls Creek for a scratch match against the Halls Creek boys.

A huge thank you to Central Kimberley Football Basketball League and for working together to make this opportunity happen. It was fantastic to see everyone coming together to give our young players a chance to play.

For some of our boys, it was their first game of footy and what a way to start! The natural talent, enthusiasm and passion on display showed just how much football means to our communities.

It was also awesome to have some of our older boys come along to support, encourage and help the younger players. Seeing our older boys giving back, passing on their knowledge and sharing their passion for the game is exactly what football is about. ❤️

Halls Creek took the win on the day, but the real winner was footy.

We’re looking forward to more games and opportunities over the coming months. The success of this day showed what can happen when communities, organisations and football clubs work together.

🏀 DJARINDJIN JUNIOR BASKETBALL WRAP-UP 🏀

Last week our local Djarindjin Community Recreation Officer Samina, wrapped up the local Junior Basketball Competition bringing young people, families and communities together through sport. ❤️🏀

Located on the Dampier Peninsula, around 190km from Broome, this competition was about more than basketball. It was about bringing back the joy, laughter and connection across our communities and creating an opportunity for our next generation to get involved, have fun and showcase their talent.

After a long break, it was fantastic to restart a local basketball competition with four junior teams competing two teams from One Arm Point and two from Djarindjin.

A huge thank you to One Arm Point for getting involved and making the competition deadly! 🙌🏾

What a first half of the year across the Kimberley! 🤩

From Auskick, Junior and Senior Football to basketball, soccer, school programs and athletics we’ve been out in communities creating opportunities, building connections and getting people active.

It’s more than sport it’s community, connection, confidence and opportunity. 🧡

A huge shoutout to our staff, coaches, volunteers, schools, families and communities for making it happen!
