Programming from our Backyard

From red dirt ovals to remote communities, our beautiful backyard continues to provide the perfect setting for sport, connection, and opportunity. The impact of these programs reaches far beyond the field and court—bringing communities together, creating positive pathways for young people, and strengthening the Kimberley spirit that makes our region so special. 🌅✨

We’re proud to reflect on the growth of our programs across the Kimberley and the positive impact they're having in our communities. This term has seen more programs delivered, increased in participants getting involved, and more volunteers stepping up to support community sport. From Auskick and Junior Football to School Footy, Basketball, and community engagement activities, the momentum continues to build across the region.

It's been fantastic to see communities coming together through sport, creating opportunities for young people to learn new skills, stay active, build friendships, and develop confidence.

CRO’s Rising Up

Week 4 continued the strong momentum of the dry season, with even greater participation across tennis, football and basketball sessions, NAB AFL Auskick, and the WA Football Schools Program like Freo Footy Skills.

It was fantastic to see our CRO’s involvement throughout the week, strengthening connections with participants, supporting consistent program delivery, and helping create a positive and engaging environment for everyone involved for our remote communities.

This week also highlighted the importance of wellbeing both on and off the field, with valuable conversations and educational sessions supporting our young people and community.

As participation grows each week, so does the sense of community, culture and connection that drives these programs forward.

"Strong communities are built through connection, support and opportunity."

Coming together from across the Kimberley

The theme of the workshop was to reset and realign. Our dedicated Garnduwa staff came together to share knowledge, strengthen connections, and learn from one another, culturally, professionally, and as one community. It was a great opportunity for all staff new and old to come together and share what's happening in their region, programs and planning, HR, team building activities and knowledge sharing.

Thank you to our presenters Geoff Davis for the sharing Garnduwa's history and Ben De Meo from Fremantle Dockers for providing us with their programs and engagement across the Kimberley.

Exciting Term 2 ahead, as we continue our Partnership with WA Football to roll out Auskick and Schools Football. We were put through our paces learning new drills and skills to bring back to our Communities.

We finished off the week being on Country with led by William Maher and his team. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and showing us around, we would definitely recommend this tour 🦀
