This week, our CEO Ashley represented Centacare Kimberley at the FRSA (Family & Relationship Services Australia) National Conference 2026, connecting with leaders from across the country to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and champion better outcomes for communities. 🤝

It was also a valuable opportunity to network with fellow Centacare CEOs, building stronger connections to support the important work happening across our sector.

Yesterday, our CEO, Ashley Ubrihien and Manager Family Services, 𝐒𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫, attended the 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐞 event, where the WA Government shared its plans and budget priorities for the Kimberley region 🌏

The event also provided an important opportunity to meet with 𝐖𝐀 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐤 and discuss the vital work 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐊𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐲 continues to deliver across the region 🤝

During the conversation, 𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐲 advocated for the growing needs of Kimberley communities and highlighted the importance of continued investment in services that support children, families and vulnerable people throughout the region ❤️

At Centacare Kimberley, we remain committed to ensuring the voices and experiences of Kimberley communities are represented in conversations that help shape the future of our region ✨

📊 Rental affordability in the Kimberley has shifted dramatically.

According to the latest research from Anglicare WA, the median rent in the West Kimberley has increased from around $355 per week in 2021 to approximately $1,100 per week in 2026 📈

That’s not a small change. It’s a fundamental shift in what housing costs mean for local families, essential workers, and people already doing it tough.

When rents rise at this pace, the impact is felt across the whole community:
🏠 fewer affordable homes available
👨‍👩‍👧 more families under housing stress
🚨 increased risk of homelessness and overcrowding
💔 growing pressure on services and support systems

This is why this research matters. It puts real numbers to what many in our region are already experiencing every day.

Centacare Kimberley stands with the findings shared by Anglicare WA and recognises the urgent need for long-term solutions that improve housing affordability and access across the Kimberley.

Because safe, affordable housing isn’t optional. It’s essential. 💙

Today, we pause to remember.

Across the Kimberley, we stand together in quiet reflection—honouring the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who came before us.

At Centacare Kimberley, we are reminded that the spirit of Anzac lives on through community, resilience, and care for one another. It is in the way we show up, support each other, and walk alongside those who need it most.

Together, we remember. Together, we carry it forward.

Lest we forget

🌏💚 Today is Earth Day 💚🌏

At Centacare Kimberley, we’re reminded that caring for our community also means caring for the land that sustains us. From the red dirt to the turquoise waters, the Kimberley is more than where we work, it’s home. 🌿🌊

Today is a chance to reflect on the small actions we can all take to protect our environment for future generations, whether that’s reducing waste, conserving water, or simply respecting the natural beauty around us. ♻️💧

Together, we can make a difference. 🤝🌱

Right now, across WA, more and more families are doing it tough 💔

New reports show food charities are seeing a surge in demand, with rising fuel prices and cost of living pressures pushing people to the brink. Some are even reducing food hampers and closing waitlists just to keep up 🥫📉

And here in the Kimberley, we are seeing it too.

The reality is:
👉 More people are asking for help
👉 Everyday essentials are harder to afford
👉 The pressure is building for families, individuals and communities

But through it all, we want our community to know this:

✨ We are still here
✨ We are still showing up
✨ We are still walking alongside you

At Centacare Kimberley, we see the strength in our community every day 💛
And even in challenging times like these, we remain committed to supporting those who need it most.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out 🤝
You are not alone.

From shrinking their hampers to closing waitlists, food charities in Western Australia are adapting their services to meet a surge in demand as more people struggle with rising costs.

It’s disheartening to share that our Robinson Street office in Broome was broken into over the Easter weekend.

This space is more than just an office. It’s a place where people come for support, safety, and connection. Every day, our team works alongside the community to provide critical services to those who need it most.

Acts like this don’t just damage property, they impact the people and families who rely on these services.

We understand that communities face challenges, but this is not okay. We all have a role to play in looking after the spaces and services that exist to support one another.

Centacare Kimberley remains committed to our work and to the community we serve. We will continue showing up, supporting those in need, and standing strong together.

If you saw anything suspicious over the weekend, please consider reporting it.

Let’s look out for each other 💛
