What an inspiring weekend of supporting the next generation of Australian string quartets! ✨

Over the last weekend, eight emerging string quartets came together for Adelaide University's Elder Conservatorium String Quartet Weekend, intensively workshopping string quartet repertoire with us, violists Keith Crellin and Stephen King, and violinist Elizabeth Layton. The two days culminated in a public concert at Elder Hall, where these talented ensembles showcased their hard work. A big congratulations to everyone involved, and we look forward to doing it again later this year! 👏

It’s not only a footy fan’s Gather Round in Adelaide this weekend… we’re here at Adelaide University’s Elder Conservatorium, gathering with seven emerging string quartets for the first of two String Quartet Weekends in 2026! It’s an incredibly inspiring time of masterclasses, workshops and rehearsals culminating in a public concert by the quartets in Elder Hall today at 5pm! See you there!

Hello from the rehearsal studio👋

We've been busy this past week putting the final touches on the music we are performing at our 𝘋𝘶𝘯𝘬𝘦𝘭𝘥 𝘍𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤. What a joy it is to be making music with our three brilliant guest artists—pianist Andrea Lam, violinist Dimity Hall and cellist Julian Smiles. We can't wait to share this program with our festival guests this week ✨

Inspiring the next generation of musicians at Adelaide University's Elder Conservatorium 🎻

One of the most rewarding aspects of our job as musicians in the Australian String Quartet is developing our country's emerging talent. As Quartet-in-Residence at Adelaide University, we work with students at the Elder Conservatorium of Music & School of Performing Arts throughout the year in workshops, one-on-one lessons, and masterclasses to help them flourish as the artists of tomorrow.

This week we've been mentoring, coaching, and providing up-close opportunities for students to explore the world of the string quartet and develop their ensemble playing. We can't wait to see how their performance skills develop across the year! 👏
