A busy week in the capital.

It was a privilege for our AIBC Chair Deepak-Raj Gupta OAM to meet the newly appointed High Commissioner of India to Australia, H.E. Nagesh Singh. A timely and important conversation as we continue to deepen the people-to-people and business ties that sit at the heart of the Australia–India relationship. We look forward to engaging closely with the High Commissioner throughout the year ahead.

With the Federal Budget upon us, the energy across Canberra was electric. A highlight was attending the Canberra Business Chamber breakfast, where panellists offered sharp and thoughtful perspectives on the economic road ahead.

It was equally heartening to see the next generation of professionals in the room young accountants and emerging leaders diligently taking notes, engaged and asking the right questions. A reminder that the future of Australia's business community is in very capable hands.

A sincere thank you to the wonderful Deborah O’Neill for her gracious hospitality and for hosting such a convivial pre-Budget gathering — bringing together so many great minds under one roof.

In discussion with Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Radio Canberra as AIBC proudly celebrates its 40th Anniversary four decades of advancing one of Australia's most vital bilateral relationships, with much more still to come.

And as always, some of the best conversations happen in the corridors. It was wonderful to reconnect with a number of strong and longstanding friends of Australia along the way.

AIBC Celebrating 40 Years of Building Bridges Between Australia and India

Founded in 1986 by two visionary prime ministers, Bob Hawke of Australia and Rajiv Gandhi of India, the Australia India Business Council (AIBC) was created with a bold ambition: to bring the business communities of our two nations closer together.

Four decades on, AIBC stands proud as one of the most influential bilateral business organisations in the region, championing trade, investment, innovation, and enduring partnerships across sectors, including technology, education, healthcare, resources, renewables and agribusiness.

This milestone is made possible by the dedication and leadership of those who have shaped AIBC’s journey: our former chairs, state presidents and committee members whose service, commitment and vision have laid the foundations for everything we are today. Thank you for your enduring contribution.

As Australia and India look to an increasingly ambitious future, AIBC remains focused on connecting leaders, building trusted networks and turning opportunity into impact.
