RHSA is extremely proud of our Board member Pam Price who was recently inducted into the SA Pride Hall of Fame, along with Eric Kuhlmann, by Katrine Hildyard MP, Minister for Human Services and Minister for Seniors and Ageing Well.
She spoke glowingly of Pam's support of "…particularly le****ns, people living with HIV and older LGBTQIA+ people...[as]...truly both life-changing and lifesaving..."

Part of Pam's response: This award honours and celebrates me and us. Naming, challenging and opening doors was what we did and it is what I have always looked to do. Our community finds our strength and power from the inspiration of those around us – we open up to it and give to each other. We find a place to belong where we can stand tall, and be visible. We experience pride, authenticity, identity strength and courage in context with each other. It is this that amplifies a community."

Cisgender women are encouraged to help defend the S*x Discrimination Act!
Not In Our Name (NION) has recently launched in Australia. This is a movement of women who are uniting in support of trans people.

If you would like to add your voice, sign the open letter below:

Not In Our Name (NION) has recently launched in Australia. This is a movement of women who are uniting in support of trans people. Thousands of women have already added their names, as part of a campaign to defend the S*x Discrimination Act against attacks from anti-trans groups.

Not In Our Name calls on all women who support the trans community to add their names to an open letter and stand for inclusion, respect and equality.

The NION campaign in the UK has seen more than 100,000 cisgender* women sign an open letter rejecting the weaponisation of women’s experiences to justify the exclusion of trans people.

If you agree that those who target and marginalise trans people do not speak for all women, add your voice and help create a kinder, more inclusive Australia.

If you would like to add your voice, sign the open letter here: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/nionwomenaus/

*cisgender refers to someone who is not trans

Older LGBTI people have a greater risk of experiencing elder abuse than their heterosexual peers. Read more as we commemorate World Elder Abuse Awareness Day today.

We are particularly vulnerable to economic insecurity, social isolation and health inequality because of historical discrimination, systemic exclusion and deeply ingrained social stigma.
We are also:
- 2 times more likely to live alone
- 2.5 times more likely to be single
- 4 times less likely to have children.

Planning ahead can help you minimise elder abuse.
You can also ring 1800 ELDERHelp ( 1800 353 374 ).

Aged Rights Advocacy Service

Older LGBTI people often face particular difficulties with accessing opportunities, essential services and protection against elder abuse. Change starts with acknowledging their unique needs and experiences.

Q***R ARCHIVE ROADSHOW AND WORKSHOP

Join Q***r Archives Collective SA on Sunday 24 May 2026 for a two-part, community-led event celebrating the launch of a new LGBTQIA+SB archive in South Australia. This archive is being built by and for our communities, to preserve our histories, memories, and everyday lives for future generations.

The Roadshow consists of two sessions. You can attend one session, or both sessions. Your ticket covers the entire day and a light lunch is included if you're attending both sessions. Everyone is welcome.

SESSION 1: Sharing Stories & Shaping the Archive
10:30 am - 12:30 pm

The first session introduces the vision and plans for the archive, including how it will collect, care for, and share q***r histories. Community members are warmly invited to bring along items that are meaningful to them—photographs, flyers, letters, artworks, or other materials—and share the q***r stories behind them in a supportive, informal setting. If you don't have anything to bring along, please come along to hear others share their stories. Everyone is welcome.

SESSION 2: Archiving Skills Workshop

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The second session is a practical, hands-on workshop. You’ll learn how to record oral histories, simple steps to keep your personal collections safe, and how to organise materials that may be suitable for inclusion in the archive. No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and a love of q***r history.
