We’re the peak body championing the health, safety & inclusion of LGBTIQA+ South Australians.

Any electoral matter is authorised by Varo, South Australian Rainbow Advocacy Alliance Inc., Adelaide. SA Rainbow Advocacy Alliance is the member-powered peak body for LGBTIQA+ South Australians and the sector that supports us. We know that LGBTIQA+ South Australians can live happy, healthy and safe lives when we're supported and affirmed by our friends, families, schools, workplaces, service providers, governments and communities. Yet we continue to face discrimination, hate and inequality that leads to poorer mental health and wellbeing outcomes. We work to make change to laws, policies and systems that perpetuate inequity to promote inclusion and improve the quality of LGBTIQA+ South Australian lives.

Feeling supported, connected, and welcomed by fellow LGBTIQA+ people in your local community makes a huge difference to wellbeing and a sense of belonging.

That is why we've teamed up with Anglicare SA, and the The Q***r Society, to look for LGBTQIA+ community members who are interested in creating or participating in safe, vibrant spaces where LGBTIQA+ people in Northern Adelaide can thrive.

This initiative will be fully community-led – designed for, by, and with LGBTIQA+ people living in the northern suburbs. To ensure it reflects what matters most to you, we are hosting community consultation sessions across November 2026 to hear your ideas, experiences, and priorities - starting tonight in Salisbury!

We never thought we’d need to write this in 2026, but here we are.

Following another homophobic assault in Adelaide’s C*D reported this week, we’ve released new guidance for LGBTIQA+ South Australians on staying safe in public.

Navigating public life should never require fear or hyper-vigilance, but with Pride Adelaide and Feast Festival around the corner, taking informed precautions can help protect you and those around you.

We’ve also written to Attorney-General Kyam Maher MLC calling for urgent protections including:
🔹Anti-vilification protections
🔹Modern anti-discrimination laws
🔹 Dedicated LGBTIQA+ legal support.

SA Rainbow Advocacy Alliance is proud to present the 9th annual Ian Purcell Oration, providing a platform to explore and celebrate vital issues facing South Australia’s LGBTIQA+ community.
Dedicated to honoring the legacy of legendary advocate Ian Purcell AM a prominent LGBTIQA+ advocate fondly known as ‘Godfather of the Gay Community’ who dedicated his life to fight discrimination against the LGBTIQ community.
This year, join trans community leaders Lucy Solonsch and Zac Cannell for an intimate, "on the couch" style conversation with SARAA CEO Varo, centered on Finding Trans Joy. Together, they will dive into how we can actively cultivate, protect, and celebrate trans joy in our everyday lives and across South Australia.
