Kangarilla Progress Community Hall

Kangarilla Progress Community Hall The Kangarilla Community Hall was built by our community, for our community and is available for hire for almost any occasion. Inc.

In 1956 the local store keeper Mr Bill Jennings was keen to establish a Progress Association for Kangarilla. With the assistance of a loyal band of helpers their first function, a Mock Deb Ball, was held. The grand sum of 28 pounds was raised. Over the following 20 years the Community banded together and many successful fundraising activities were held. A couple of astute business decisions in res

pect to the buying and selling of land were made and eventually, sufficient funds were accumulated to finance the building of a 'Community Hall'. The official opening of the Kangarilla Community Hall was conducted on March 12, 1977. The Kangarilla community Hall continues to be managed by the Kangarilla Progress Association. The Kangarilla Community is still served well by this wonderful hall and is available for hire for almost any occasion.

Paul Lack has done it again, capturing the essence of our local Community Anzac Commemoration. Once again, we showcased our youth and how special are these photos!
THANKYOU to everyone involved and thankyou to the estimated 250 local residents who attended the Service. Your support was amazing & makes all the volunteer hours worth the effort. ❤️❤️
Always reluctant to name individuals (in case I miss someone) but must acknowledge Donna & the Kangarilla Primary School students (past & present), the CFS Kuitpo Cadets, Kangarilla Progress & Footy Club, Mark on sound, Rowena & Casey (vocalists - who in true ANZAC spirit managed to perform while both on the sick list!), Darryl Parslow, Reverend Carol Chambers, Mike Golder & ofcourse, our dedicated Jock Statton AM.
Special thanks to Josh Teague MP for printing our programs & our wonderful band of volunteers - we couldn’t do it without you - you placed poppies, signs, arranged display in Meeting room, cooked ANZAC biscuits & the BBQ, served Tea & Coffee & then cleaned up afterwards!! Simply Wonderful - THANKYOU!

“The Money Belts” - 1916
Excerpt from The Chronicle
“On Saturday last, an enthusiastic gathering assembled in the town hall to bid God-speed to Private H.C.T. Dowling, O Collins, T Golder, W Golder, T Blythman, M Biddle and B Osmond.
…….. Each soldier was presented with a money-belt and a pair of socks.”

One of these money-belts will be on display in the “RSL” room, (adjacent to Kangarilla War Memorial) along with other local memorabilia following our dawn service at 6.30am.
All Welcome to attend the Commemoration Service and join us afterwards for a “gunfire” breakfast.
