Meadows CFS Brigade held its 82nd Annual General Meeting on Monday night, thanks to the Meadows Hotel, to elect new Officers and Office Bearers. Returning officers were Mark Chilton and Jason Sanders from Heysen Group. Congratulations to the following people:

The night’s highlight was the presentation of the John Lees Award to Kathryn Coombe by Judith Lees. The Award is for outstanding contribution to the Brigade over the past year, nominated by members. Very well deserved.

Meadows CFS had a busy year, attending 128 call outs over the year including several major structure fires, grass fires and Strike Teams. Unfortunately we attended 31 motor vehicle accidents, and assisted our friends in SA Ambulance with six medical emergencies. We also worked with fellow brigades and Strathalbyn SES on lots of fallen trees on local roads.
Thanks to the Meadows community, from whom our volunteers come, for helping us protect life and property.

Very large tree down on Greenhills Road this morning - 0530 call-out. Meadows 24P attended, and with a lot of help from Macclesfield CFS and Mt Barker SES, the road was clear by 0700.

Meadows CFS Brigade trains every Monday evening - tonight it was a Road Crash Rescue scenario - with a car on its side in a paddock containing a driver and passenger who needed extricating. Both Meadows 24P (our rescue appliance) and Meadows 34 (our rural appliance) both attended with full crews. We often work with other Brigades with road crashes.
We practice our skills regularly to help people in real emergencies.

While the Fire Danger Season officially ends tonight, the SA Country Fire Service warns that dry conditions and elevated fire weather still pose a significant risk tomorrow. If you are conducting a burn, please remain vigilant by ensuring a responsible person is in attendance with water at all times and checking the site regularly after it is extinguished to prevent reignition. Additionally, be sure to check local council requirements, as smoke nuisance regulations and specific backyard burning restrictions often remain in place year-round.

Be sure to check for Total Fire Bans as they can be declared outside the regular season.

⚠️ Elevated Fire Weather Forecast for Tomorrow ⚠️

While tomorrow officially marks the end of the Fire Danger Season, dry conditions remain across the state and continue to pose an increased fire risk.

This week alone, our volunteers have responded to more than 14 grass fires across the state, highlighting how quickly fires can start and spread.

🔥 With the risk still in the landscape, please take caution and remain vigilant when conducting any activity involving fire.

If conducting a burn, ensure a responsible person is in attendance at all times, water or a suitable fire extinguisher is available, and regularly check once the fire is extinguished to ensure it hasn't reignited. Ensure you follow any local restrictions or guidelines.
