Macclesfield RSL Sub-Branch

Macclesfield RSL Sub-Branch Situated in the Adelaide Hills town of Macclesfield the RSL Sub-Branch contributes to the welfare of serving and ex-serving personnel of the wider District .

We are also Community focussed and welcome all like minded members of the community to join us. Situated in the heart of Macclesfield, in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, South Australia. The Sub-Branch has a long standing history (established in 1941) with the local community. The RSL sub-branch has occupied the historic original school house since 1958. Carparking is available in front street and

to the rear of the Clubrooms under the 150 year plus old heritage listed English Oak Tree. Our membership of over 100 consists of both full Service and Affiliate members. All members of the public who support the ideals of the RSL are strongly encouraged to apply for membership of our sub-branch and enjoy the membership privileges of one of Australia's most revered service organisations. The sub-branch is open most Wednesday mornings from 10am and all members and the public are invited to come and enjoy the fellowship and country hospitality. Check opening dates and times - but also check when you go by - because there's a good chance it will be open with somebody looking for company!

Conversations, cooking over the fire pit and in the Aldershott ovens, drinks and comraderie at your RSL. Bev's cooking scones and Paul is roasting pork. Our first Fire Pit Friday is pumping!

We've gone electric ⚡️Thanks to the Mount Barker District Council and their Environmental Grant we have replaced the old heavy, smokey petrol driven tools with light weight, quiet and volunteer friendly battery-operated equipment. Providing better equipment for our volunteers means better results for the community, better results for the environment and best of all better results for the ANZAC Gardens.

Wow, this week we received a wonderful gift pack from the Royal British Legion Macclesfield Sub-Branch. Our 2 Sub-Branches from towns with the same great name have established a Brother Branch connection where we hope to share friendship and hosting duties to each other's members in their travels. Thank you RBL Macclesfield for your wonderful gifts and we look forward to future visits.

Our people don't just volunteer for the RSL ..... they are in their community doing other things as well..........
Here is just a couple of blokes .....
Phillip doesnt just do the Bar each Bingo night .... he's also the Time Keeper at the Footy Club ..... And Dennis isn't just the President .... he also does the Gate Keeping at the Home games for the Footy Club - whilst managing the mulch heap and cooking his curries!
We have many RSL members doing more than just RSL work ....... Carolyn is the Grant Administrator for the Bowling Club and Hannah is the Co-Ordinator for the Food Pantry.
If you live in the Country ..... you put into your Community if you can!
Thank you to all who do!

When you do as much good as the Baird family has done for the veteran community, our government should be asking how they can support them further, not taking that support away.

Cameron Baird VC MG is one of the giants of the Australian Defence Force. He remains an inspirational figure, and a powerful example of courage, leadership, and selfless service. For the generation who’ve served during the Global War on Terror era and through to today, Cam Baird is our Albert Jacka.

We are deeply grateful that Kaye and Doug Baird have made it their mission to continue telling Cam’s story, ensuring future generations understand the character of the man, the sacrifice he made for his mates and his country, and the values he represented.

But in the same fortnight that the Australian Government announced caps to veteran entitlements, funding has been removed from the family of one of our nation’s greatest heroes as they work to preserve his legacy. All for a measly couple of grand. The sort of money a big DVA office would spend on stationary.

As a country, we need to be better than this.
