On Monday, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Amy's 3/4 class from the Macclesfield Primary School - SA! Over the past month, these wonderful young people have been collecting donations of non perishable pantry goods to donate. They also baked and brought yummy plum muffins, coconut biscuits with plum jam they'd made at school and pumpkin scones, to share for morning tea. All of these were made with produce from the school's Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program.
The kids shared their stories about projects they've been working on, with some colourful posters. Our Pantry guests and volunteers thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to hear about their interests and share stories with younger people.
Thank you to the school community for supporting the Pantry with an amazing amount of donations. Thank you to the teachers and students for visiting us and sharing your time and interests with us!
At the Pantry, we LOVE creating connections with our community and one another. Together, we are stronger! ❤️

Next Monday, we will have special guests! Amy's class from the Macclesfield Primary School have been working on a project to support our Pantry! They will be walking to the Pantry to bring donations and morning tea that they are going to cook for you guys!
We encourage Pantry visitors to stay for a cuppa and hear a little from the students about their learning and how supporting the Pantry fits in with their curriculum.
Two years ago, they did this and we're delighted to have their support once again!

This afternoon, we held a drinks and nibbles thank you event to formally acknowledge the many individuals, businesses and organisations who support our work at the Maccy Pantry. Quite a few could not make it, so the wonderful people in this photo represent just some of our supporters.

Did you know that our volunteers collect an average of 1 ton of food every month from Coles via SecondBite?
In addition to this food, volunteers also collect donated potatoes and brussels sprouts weekly and purchase extra fruit and vegetables every single week year round. This ensures that we are able to support the approximately 40 households we help each week.
We are open almost every Monday, 52 weeks a year, only having two Mondays off since opening. In our first year, Xmas and NY Day fell on Mondays so we were closed on these days, but we've opened our doors every Monday since!
This week we are holding a thank you event to formally pass on our gratitude to the many businesses and individuals who support our Pantry in different ways. Without their generosity and support, we could not do what we do.
