The defibrillator (AED) at the Black Horse Pub had expired pads and needed replacing. 🫀⚡

A HUGE THANK YOU 🙏👏 goes to Normanton Catering Technicians Ltd for sponsoring and paying for the new defibrillator pads. 💷❤️

Thanks to your generosity, this vital lifesaving equipment is now back up and ready for an emergency where North West Ambulance Service can activate it through a system called The Circuit.🚨🫀⚡

In a cardiac arrest, every second counts ⏱️. Having a working defibrillator available can give someone a potentially life-saving chance when they need it most. ❤️‍🩹🙏

A massive THANK YOU also goes to Heart Hero Tomas and Trustee Sarah, 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️❤️ for continuing to look after this defibrillator, carrying out its regular checks ✅🔍 and helping ensure it remains emergency ready 24/7. 🚨⚡

❤️ WORLD HEART DAY – AND THIS ONE IS A LITTLE BIT SPECIAL! ❤️

Today, on World Heart Day, another Public Access Defibrillator and emergency bleed kit is officially going live in our community thanks to Diodes Incorporated !

Martin, one of our Trustees at Defibrillators Save Lives, works at Diodes Incorporated and has been involved in helping bring this fantastic project together.

And today, Scott, Chairman and Co-Founder of Defibrillators Save Lives, was invited to Diodes Incorporated to officially unveil the defibrillator!

Diodes Incorporated have supported DSL previously with a generous donation, but they decided they wanted to go one step further.

They could quite easily have installed the defibrillator inside their own grounds, protecting their employees to add to the ones they already have dotted around!

Instead, they chose to install it externally as a Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) — meaning this life-saving equipment is available via North West Ambulance Service to the wider community when it is needed.

And that decision meant a little more work!

A specialist stand had to be created, with the design developed by Diodes Employee, Andy Nokes and manufactured by Prime Steel Fabrications in Milnrow.

Behind the scenes, so many employees at Diodes Incorporated have played a part in taking this from an idea to the installation you see today.

This is what community spirit looks like: a local business choosing to invest time, effort and money not just into protecting its own workforce, but into helping protect the people around it too.

Today is World Heart Day — a day that sits very close to everything we do at Defibrillators Save Lives.

Every day, our mission is simple: to help make our communities safer by increasing access to life-saving defibrillators, supporting their ongoing maintenance and helping people understand just how important early action can be during a cardiac emergency.

❤️🎂 TWO VERY SPECIAL DSL BIRTHDAYS TODAY! 🎂❤️

Today we’re celebrating two wonderful members of the Defibrillators Save Lives family — our Co-Founder and Trustee Pat, and one of our younger Heart Heroes, Tomas, who turns 14 today!

Pat has been part of DSL from the very beginning. Her kindness, compassion and genuine love for the community are at the heart of everything our charity stands for.

And then we have Heart Hero Tomas.

At just 14 years old, Tomas is already giving his time as one of our Heart Heroes and showing a real commitment to helping make his community safer.

There’s something pretty special about celebrating a birthday for someone who helped start DSL, alongside one of the young people who represents its future.

Two generations. One shared passion for their community.

Pat, thank you for everything you have given and continue to give to DSL and the people we serve.

Tomas, keep being the brilliant young man you are. At only 14, you’re already making your family, DSL and your community incredibly proud.

Today is a very special day as Charlie turns 13! 🥳🎈🎁 Officially a TEENAGER! 😱🎉🙌

And with just 364 days between them, tomorrow it’s Tomas’s turn to celebrate as he turns 14! 🎂🎉🎈🥳

These two have become firm friends over the years 🤝💙 — they’re in the same Scout troop ⚜️, attend the same school 🏫📚, and, most importantly, they’re both amazing Young Heart Heroes ❤️🦸‍♂️🦸‍♂️ helping support Defibrillators Save Lives and spreading awareness of the importance of defibrillators. 🫀⚡️🚑❤️

🚨 SHOULD REGISTERING PUBLIC DEFIBRILLATORS BECOME MANDATORY? ❤️

This week, the issue of defibrillator registration has been raised in Parliament, with the Government asked whether newly installed public-access defibrillators should be required to be registered on The Circuit.

And this matters. A lot.

❤️ The Circuit is the national defibrillator network connecting defibrillators with ambulance services across the UK.

When somebody suffers a cardiac arrest and 999 is called, the ambulance service can use this system to identify registered defibrillators nearby and, where appropriate, direct someone to retrieve one.

At Defibrillators Save Lives, this is already standard practice for us.

✅ Every outdoor public-access defibrillator that we look after is registered on The Circuit.

Because simply putting a defibrillator on a wall isn't enough.

It needs to be:
📍 Registered
🔋 Maintained
❤️ Ready for use
📅 Regularly checked
🚑 Visible to the ambulance service when somebody needs it

🔎 WANT TO CHECK THE DEFIBRILLATORS NEAR YOU?

The Circuit has a public-facing service called Defib Finder, which allows you to search for known public-access defibrillators in your area.

👉 Visit www.defibfinder.uk and enter your location.

Have a look around your local area. You might be surprised where your nearest defibrillator is!

⚠️ And here's something important…

If you know there is a public-access defibrillator near you but it isn't appearing on Defib Finder, speak to the person, business or organisation responsible for it and ask:

👉 “Is this defibrillator registered on The Circuit?”

There are now more than 110,000 defibrillators registered on The Circuit across the UK, but there may still be devices sitting in workplaces, sports clubs, community buildings and businesses that aren't registered.

Installing the defibrillator is only part of the job.

Register it. Check it. Maintain it. Keep it ready.

Because when somebody suffers a cardiac arrest, every minute matters.

🚨💙 EMERGENCY SERVICES DAY – 9/9 💙🚨

Today, on Emergency Services Day, we want to say a massive THANK YOU to the incredible people who are there when we need them most.

Police. Fire. Ambulance. Search & Rescue. Coastguard. And all those working behind the scenes to keep our communities safe. 🚑🚒🚓

At Defibrillators Save Lives, this one means a little bit more to us.

A number of our amazing Heart Heroes are themselves Emergency Service workers — people who spend their working lives helping others, yet still give up their own time to support our charity and help us keep lifesaving defibrillators available across our communities. ❤️

They help us install them.
They check them.
They help return them to service after an activation.
And, most importantly, they understand exactly why having a defibrillator available when every second counts matters so much.

To our own Heart Heroes working within the Emergency Services, and to Emergency Service workers everywhere:
