Our guild enjoyed a very interesting talk on three ladies of Dunham Massey on Tuesday. We learned the difference between a Lady who was born of aristocracy and a Lady who married into aristocracy. Thank you to Liz Lewis for coming to talk to us.
Unfortunately they can’t locate any pictures of Mary Oldbury, who married into the aristocracy but there are photos of her daughter Mary Booth, who was born in aristocracy and a photo of her with her father. There are photos of Penelope who married into aristocracy.

Just a reminder about Royton Independent Townswomen’s Guild is open to new members.

We meet at St James Church Parish Hall, 38 Thornham Lane, Thornham, OL2 6UW on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm

Vsitors can attend 2 meetings at a cost of £4 per meeting before joining.

This Tuesday, 18th August our speaker will be Liz Lewis on The Ladies of Dunham Massey.

We look forward to seeing you then.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death at the age of 100 of Vera O’Brien a former member of Royton Townswomen’s Guild.
Vera was a loyal and dedicated member of the Guild for many years and was still a member at the age of 90 when she then moved to the Isle of Man to be with her family. We send our love and sympathy to her family.

We are also sad to announce the death at the age of 93 of Dorothy Armstrong another loyal and dedicated member of our Guild and send love and sympathy to her family.

Our members and friends had a lovely evening last night at Playhouse 2 watching the film The Greatest Showman.
Many thanks to the volunteers John, James and Judith for manning the door and bar.

We had a very interesting and informative talk about Ellen Smith Tours including the history from its beginning through to the current year. Thank you to Pat and Michelle for coming to visit Royton Townswomen.
