🦖 Did you celebrate Dinosaur Day this year? 🦕

Dinosaur Day was on 1st June, and it reminded us of an amazing OPAL Crew trip to Manchester Museum! 🐝

We came face-to-face with Leopold the Triceratops, a real fossil discovered in the USA and buried underground for 66 million years! 🦴🪏

We explored the exhibition, learned about dinosaurs from the super helpful staff and volunteers, tried interactive activities, and of course took plenty of dinosaur photos along the way! 📸

Days out like these are about much more than just visiting new places. They help people build confidence, learn new things, make friends, create memories, and enjoy experiences they might not otherwise have the chance to access. 💙

🦖 DINO DAY! 🦕

Today is Dinosaur Day in the UK, and we celebrated in true OPAL style with colouring, creativity, and a roaring good quiz! 🎨✨

We got stuck into some dinosaur-themed colouring sheets, showed off our artistic skills, and tested our prehistoric knowledge in a fun dinosaur quiz. There were plenty of laughs, lots of concentration, and some fantastic colourful creations along the way! 😄

At OPAL we love creating opportunities for people to learn, have fun, build confidence, and spend time with friends. 💙

At OPAL we’re taking part in healthy, happy, and fun activities all year round, Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm except Bank Holidays.

No pirate parrrrrrty is complete without a pirate feast and a few pirate games! 🏴‍☠️🍴

Last week our pirates tucked into “Dead Men’s Fingers” hot dogs before testing their skills with games, challenges, treasure hunting, and plenty of friendly competition! ☠️⚓️

There was pin the parrot, Pop Up Pirate, pirate treasure games, and lots of determined aiming at the famous pirate holes board! 🎯😂

Most importantly, everybody had a brilliant time together, sharing laughs, building confidence, and creating happy memories together. 🤩

At OPAL we believe activities like this should be fun, inclusive, and open to everybody. 💙

We went full pirate mode last week for a day of games, laughs, costumes, and absolute parrrrrrty chaos! 🏴‍☠️⚓️

There was dancing, cheering, pirate posing, plenty of “arrrrrr-ing,” and enough smiles to sink a ship! 😄

From captain costumes to cheeky parrots, everybody got stuck in and had a whale of a time. 🐳

At OPAL we believe having fun, making friends, building confidence, and trying new things should be for everybody. 💙

There’s a new name at the top of the table… CALLUM has leapfrogged the competition and moved into 1st place! 👏

With everyone set to play each other twice across a 14 game season, there’s still plenty of bowls left to play, so it’s all still to play for! 👀

More importantly, the league continues to be a brilliant way for everybody to stay active, enjoy the sunshine, build confidence, and spend time together through fun, friendly competition 💙

From huge celebrations to laser-focused bowls faces, every week has been full of laughs, teamwork, and great company.

Who’s going to finish top of the table? We’ll have to wait and see…

We’re very sad to share that our lovely friend and OPAL member Lorraine has passed away.

Lorraine was a kind and gentle person who will be fondly remembered by everybody at OPAL. She always brought warmth and a lovely smile with her, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Last week some of our staff attended a beautiful service to celebrate Lorraine’s life and say our goodbyes.

Our thoughts are with Lorraine’s family and loved ones.

Thank you for the smiles, Lorraine. You will be missed 💗

🎄 Christmas Magic!

Christmas has come early! A huge thank you to Mischief Theatre, the cast, and The Lowry for helping us raise an incredible £1,084.34 from Thursday evening’s performance of A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong!

We’re so grateful for every single penny, and for everyone who donated and supported OPAL. 💙

The show is currently touring the UK and stars OPAL’s very own ambassador Jonathan Sayer. It’s a very funny play and a great night out for anyone who loves a bit of festive fun!
