If you've been following the recent discussions about charity shops, you'll have seen plenty of headlines about closures and comments that charity shops have become "too expensive". Last week, we held a £1 clothing sale in one of our shops and, judging by the speed the rails emptied it was a huge success.
The conversation around pricing is important because charity shops need to strike a balance between raising vital funds, rising operating costs and ensuring bargains remain accessible to the communities we serve.
Our shops are a huge part of the way we fundraise to provide food, shelter, veterinary treatment, rehabilitation and second chances for dogs and cats who need us. But we also know that many shoppers visit charity shops because they're looking for affordable options during challenging times. There isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. Some items are worth more, some deserve to be a bargain, sometimes a £1 sale brings in new supporters who return again and again.
What we do know is that charity shops are about far more than what's on the price tag. They're about community, sustainability, volunteering, friendship, and supporting causes that matter. And for us, every item sold helps change an animal's future.
We're very grateful to everyone who supports our rescue's vital work by donating and purchasing from our charity shops. Why not pop in and browse our reasonably priced items soon?
