The Division for Research and Methodology of PsySSA aims to promote theory and research in psychology

The Division for Research and Methodology of PsySSA aims:

- To promote theory and research in psychology;
- To improve the training of psychologists and the teaching of psychology;
- To provide a forum for persons who are involved in the teaching of, and research in, psychology;
- To serve the interests and recognition of those persons who are involved in teaching of, and research in, psychology;
- To promote international co-operation between psychologists and between workers in cognate areas;
- To encourage debate on the social and ethical consequences of psychology;
- To promote links between psychology and its applications; and
- To institute and administer Continuing Education (CE) Programmes.

AI is changing how we research, write and supervise. What does responsible use look like in practice?

Join PsySSA’s Division for Research and Methodology for our roundtable, “AI in Psychological Research and Supervision: Rethinking Practice, Ethics, and Knowledge Production”.

Together, we’ll explore AI’s possibilities and the questions it raises about authorship, academic integrity and independent thinking, with a particular focus on postgraduate supervision.

Our speakers are Vusi Mthimkhulu, Dr Fatima Peters and Dr Jabulani Chitanga, with Kyle Bester moderating the discussion.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, PsySSA’s Division for Research and Methodology embraces the theme “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change.”

People with lived experience bring knowledge that can help us ask better questions, understand the challenges of everyday life and explore what meaningful support looks like. Their voices deserve a place in shaping mental health research, from the questions we ask to how we use what we learn.

Sharing is always a choice. When someone chooses to share, let’s listen with respect and work together towards change that reflects what matters to them.
