🎶 When a little voice finds its confidence, anything is possible! Meet Thabo, a cheerful little boy whose journey at Cotlands is a beautiful reminder that every child grows at their own pace.

When Thabo first joined our programme, he was shy and struggled to communicate clearly. He often preferred to stay on his own and found it difficult to join in with activities.

Through singing, storytelling, ring time, conversations and play, Thabo is beginning to engage in the activities with other children and is starting to express himself.

Thabo is learning a song about stranger danger and these are important skills to keep himself safe.

He is still a quiet little boy but is learning to participate and shine. 🌟

As Cotlands celebrates 90 years of kindness, we celebrate the small moments that lead to big changes in a child’s life.

✍🏾🎨 Look closely. You’ll see more than a drawing. You’ll see progress. Meet Mandla, a bright 4-year-old who has been growing, learning and finding his voice at Cotlands since he was just two.

Mandla loves coming to Cotlands, playing with his friends and joining classroom discussions. But one of the clearest signs of his progress can be seen in his artwork. ✏️✨

His early drawings had few details. Today, his drawings include hands, ears and a mouth, showing growing pencil control, observation skills and confidence.

For Mandla, every new detail is a little milestone. 🌱 And every milestone is a reminder of what is possible when children have the right opportunities to play, learn and thrive.

As we celebrate 90 years of kindness, help us create more stories of growth and possibility.

🌟 90 years of kindness. 90 years of changing lives. 🧡

Meet Thando, a name we have used to protect this little girl’s privacy. She is a bright and determined 5-year-old whose journey with Cotlands shows the incredible power of play-based early learning.

When Thando joined our ECD programme at just three years old, she was very quiet and found it difficult to respond or communicate with others. But with the support of her teacher, interaction with her peers and the power of play, Thando slowly came out of her shell. 👧🏾

Today, she is a confident, curious little girl who is thriving in class! 🎨✨ She knows her colours and shapes, can create patterns, sort objects, copy her name and proudly creates neat artwork. Most importantly, she has developed the social and emotional skills she needs to take her next big step: starting school! 🎒🌈

Thando’s story is a beautiful reminder that when children are given the opportunity to play, learn and connect, they can discover their potential and flourish.

As Cotlands celebrates 90 years of kindness, you can help us create more moments of possibility for vulnerable children like Thando.

📝✨Yesterday was a productive day of conversations, learning, sharing and shaping the future of Toy Libraries!

The Cotlands Toy Library seminar brought together passionate toy librarians, ECD practitioners, educators and partners for an important conversation on the role of Toy Libraries in the Bana Pele Blueprint.

As we reflected on the power of play, we explored how toy libraries can strengthen access to quality early learning, support caregivers, promote inclusion, and help ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

These photos capture the energy in the room; thoughtful discussions, collaborative learning, hands-on engagement and a shared commitment to putting children first. 🧡

Thank you to everyone who contributed their ideas, experience and passion. We are building a future where access to educational toys and learning resources through toy libraries can enrich a child’s play-based learning experience and build a powerful foundation for lifelong learning.
