WATCH: More state control won't fix South Africa's schools.

The BELA Act gives provincial education departments greater control over admissions and language policies, weakening the autonomy of school governing bodies.

FMF Policy Officer Ayanda Zulu argues that instead of interfering in well-performing schools, government should focus on fixing the schools under its control and expanding access to quality education.
