What a week for CATCH!

Our U13 boys and girls took part in the JP21 Friendship Series T10 Tournament, a celebration of cricket, friendship, respect, fair play and, most importantly, having fun!

The boys narrowly missed out on a spot in the final, while our girls battled their way into the final against St Augustine’s.

It wasn’t our girls’ day, with St Augustine’s taking the win by 41 runs, but what a tournament it was!

Thank you JP21 Foundation for an amazing week of cricket.

DAY 4 | MichaelHouse U17 Cricket Festival

What a way to finish!

The final day of the MichaelHouse U17 Cricket Festival saw CATCH take on Maritzburg College in a T20 clash.

Bowling first, the team made an early breakthrough, taking the first wicket in just the 2nd over. Maritzburg College finished on 137/9 after 20 overs, setting CATCH a challenging target.

The chase got off to a rocky start with early wickets falling, but the team showed plenty of fight and belief.

A brilliant 50 off 37 balls from Avuya Buti, backed up by Hlumelo Noliroto with 21 (21)* and Inga Ncongolo with 12 (8), helped CATCH get over the line and secure a thrilling 2-wicket victory!

A great way to close out the festival, fighting until the very end!

DAY 3 | MichaelHouse U17 Cricket Festival

A change of format and a big day of T20 cricket!

Day 3 saw the CATCH U17 team take on Kempton Park U17 in the morning before facing Kearsney U17 in the afternoon.

The morning game got off to a tough start, with CATCH losing early wickets and being bowled out for 93. The team fought hard with the ball, taking early wickets and keeping the game tight, but Kempton Park eventually edged the game by 2 wickets.

Nande Mgatyelwa - 2/13
Alakhe Ngonya - 2/18

The afternoon brought another T20 challenge against Kearsney. Batting first, CATCH again found themselves under pressure early, but some valuable runs from the lower order helped push the total to 120 all out.

The team battled with the ball, taking the first wicket in the 4th over, but Kearsney went on to secure the win.

Luyolo Nonkonyana - 17(22)
Likhona Spandeel - 13(14)
Ntando Ham - 2/11

Not the results the team wanted, but plenty of fight, learning and moments to build on.

DAY 2 | MichaelHouse U17 Cricket Festival

Another day, another big team performance!

The CATCH U17 team faced St Alban’s College in a 50-over clash, taking the field first and making an early breakthrough in the 6th over.

St Alban’s finished on 223/6 after 50 overs, setting CATCH a competitive chase.

And what a response! The opening pair of Ayola Sam and Lwando Siswana got CATCH off to a flying start, building a solid foundation for the chase.

Despite losing three wickets, the team stayed calm, backed each other and got the job done, CATCH winning by 7 wickets!

DAY 1 | MichaelHouse U17 Cricket Festival

What a way to start!

The CATCH U17 team took on hosts MichaelHouse in a 40-over clash, winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.

The boys came out firing, picking up early wickets and putting MichaelHouse under pressure from the start. They finished their innings on 166/9 after 40 overs.

The chase got off to a shaky start as CATCH lost two early wickets, but the team stayed composed and fought all the way through to secure a 2-wicket victory!

Ave Nkantini - 56* (61)

A brilliant team effort to get the festival off to a winning start!
