“A little firecracker who always lit up the rehab tent with his smiles and bright eyes!”

That is how the rehabilitation team described Rayan. He was one of the first patients to walk up the gangway of the during the 2026 field service, where he received surgery for bowed legs.

With his feet straightened, Rayan and his father returned home to their family, where they planned to celebrate his recovery with their community.

Once a Mercy Ships trainee, Dr. Abram Wodomé became a mentor, sharing his cataract surgery expertise with other eye specialists.

Through his training partnership with Mercy Ships, ophthalmologists developed their surgical skills, with some going on to train others and extend the impact beyond their own practice.
