A NEW ROTARY YEAR BEGINS AT SEA POINT

The Rotary Club of Sea Point recently gathered for a special evening marking the close of one chapter and the beginning of another.

It was an evening of fellowship, reflection and gratitude—celebrating the service of our outgoing leadership, welcoming new members and renewing the shared purpose that brings us together as Rotarians.

We are delighted to welcome Bibi Halday as President of the Rotary Club of Sea Point for the new Rotary year. We wish Mariam every success as she leads the Club with purpose, compassion and a strong commitment to service.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to Past President Hemphill for his leadership, dedication and valuable contribution to the Club. Thank you, Rod, for the time, energy and commitment you have invested in our members, our projects and the communities we serve.

The evening also gave us the opportunity to welcome Andries and Gisela Keyser as new members of the Rotary Club of Sea Point. We look forward to sharing many meaningful projects, friendships and moments of fellowship with them.

As we begin this new Rotary year, we are reminded that meaningful service is never the work of one person alone. It begins when people come together, listen to their communities and transform compassion into action.

As I begin my term as President of the Rotary Club of Sea Point for the 2026/2027 Rotary year, I am both honoured and inspired by the opportunity to serve alongside an exceptional group of people committed to making a difference.

Our induction marks not only the beginning of a new Rotary year, but also the start of a renewed commitment to creating meaningful, lasting impact within our communities. Guided by the vision of Rotary International, our club is dedicated to turning service into sustainable action through projects that uplift lives, strengthen partnerships, and inspire positive change.

Throughout the year ahead, the Rotary Club of Sea Point will focus on collaboration, innovation, and service above self, ensuring that every initiative contributes to a stronger, more resilient community. 🚴‍♂️ Thank you to our incredible Rotary Sea Point volunteers

This past Sunday, 8 March, Cape Town hosted the iconic Cape Town Cycle Tour (often still affectionately called the Argus), bringing thousands of cyclists together for one of the world’s most beautiful and celebrated cycling events.

Rotary Sea Point Club would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated volunteers who generously gave their time and energy to assist during the event. Your enthusiasm, teamwork and commitment helped support the cyclists and contributed to the smooth running of this remarkable day.

From early morning preparations to assisting riders along the route, our volunteers represented the very best of the Rotary spirit — stepping forward to serve the community and ensure that participants felt welcomed, supported and safe.

Events of this scale simply would not be possible without the generosity of volunteers who are willing to give their time for the benefit of others.

We are incredibly proud of our Rotary Sea Point members and volunteers who embodied the Rotary motto “Service Above Self.”

Thank you for helping make the Cape Town Cycle Tour 2026 such a memorable success for our city and for everyone who took part.
