Many of you know that our Chapter of the Red Hat Society mainly do community outreach programmes -

The CTRHR use funding from various sources including Rotary to uplift the living and educational conditions of children in the townships as well as feeding them a daily breakfast, and the elderly grandparents left to care for orphans.

While very little is written about the Cape Town Red Hat Renegades (down to one elderly Queen), we still operate but quietly. When we are given funding we account to the donor and give them photo's of just how their funds were spent.. No overheads come out of any funds. Sometimes we are given access to food, clothing and other material articles and these are very carefully sorted to ensure they go directly to those in need. We also ensure that the beneficiaries are not sponsored by others and so find smaller groups or organisations we know have no other source of help. We mainly work with the elderly government pensioners who struggle to make ends meet every month. The Rotary Club of Claremont also allow us to spread funds to the most vulnerable. Sacs Junior School include us in many of their community projects. So, we are still active and our motto remains Fun and Friendship with a Purpose.
