This morning the 87th PA Co C had the honor of marching in the Etters VFW Community Memorial Day Parade and Celebration in Newberry Township, York County.

The 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Co C took home the blue ribbon for Best Military Group! 🏆🇺🇲🦅

Please see the event details below regarding our involvement in the Etters VFW Memorial Day parade on Monday the 25.

- Arrival time: 9am

- Form up location: Parkville Bible Church, 800 Whisler Road, Goldsboro, PA

We typically are placed towards the front end of the parade. Head in the direction of the front of the parade and work your way back to locate us if needed.

- Parade step off: 10am

- Parade route:

Start: Parkville Bible Church, out to York haven Rd.

Turn right and continues down York Haven Rd.

Turn right onto Church Rd.

Ends in field behind parking lot on left side of road before Rabbit Slide Rd.

ATTENTION Co. C,

It appears that the weather is not going to cooperate. Due to that, we have decided to postpone our ceremony this Saturday until a later date.

Attention 87th!

Our Memorial Day ceremony is on Saturday, May 23rd. This year, our ceremony will be at the soldier's circle which is a little bit past the cemetery office. It's a nice, shaded location with 11 members of the 87th buried within it.

Arrival time:

8:30 AM • DON'T BE LATE

•Come with clean rifles, polished brass and white gloves!

•Have cartridges and caps in your respective boxes.

A huge part of reenacting is educating the public. Yesterday, Private Gottschall and Corporal Miller were invited by Bobblehead George to talk about the lives of Union Civil War soldiers at North Eastern Middle School.

The kids were engaged, asked meaningful questions, and were eager to participate when we held a "mock military draft" to see who would be willing to join the 87th PA for a 3 year enlistment.
