STILL SEEKING ACTOR: Karl Lindner/Steve (White Male, 30s-40s)

Karl Lindner (Act I): The neighborhood representative (originally from A Raisin in the Sun). He is a fastidious, nervous man who uses pseudo-intellectual sociology and "economic common sense" to mask his overt, unyielding white supremacy. He is terrified of integration.

Steve (Act II): A modern, affluent homebuyer. He represents fragile, highly defensive white male privilege. He strongly believes he is a progressive ally, but when he feels cornered, he weaponizes "logic" and political correctness arguments, eventually telling an offensive joke to prove a point.

We're accepting digital submissions for this role. Please prepare the following Karl Lindner monologue from Act I:

"I'm not speaking out of prejudice, Russ. I am speaking out of practical reality. A community is a delicate ecosystem. It relies on a certain level of shared background, shared values, and common expectations. When you introduce an element that doesn't fit that matrix, the equilibrium is destroyed. It's not good for us, and honestly, it's not good for them either. They would be isolated here. They wouldn't have the support system they need. I'm simply asking you to think about the bigger picture. We have a duty to protect what we've built here."

Digital Submission Requirements:
Record a video that includes the auditionee's name, age, followed by the monologue above. Email a link to the video (not a file) — a YouTube link is preferred. Please do not make the video public; choose the setting that allows only those with the link to view. Complete the digital audition form (https://dw890303.typeform.com/to/nfdtOMWs).

Creatures BIG & small
September 4–October 2, 2026
DreamWrights Center for Community Arts

From the smallest firefly to a colorful flock of geese, Creatures BIG & small celebrates the animals, natural world, and imaginative creatures that inspire us to look more closely at the world around us.

At the heart of the exhibit is the work of Adañ Torres (Brilliant Art by Adam) an emerging Latin American artist residing in South Central Pennsylvania.

During the summer, Annelise Vuono’s (LoveBug Illustrations by Annelise) mural campers created the first eleven fireflies for the Seeking Homes project, beginning a growing community artwork that will find new homes throughout York’s WeCo District.

As DreamWrights brings its fall productions to life, the cast and crew of Mother Goosed have created their own flock of colorful geese, transforming theatrical craftsmanship into playful works of art.

Some are BIG.
Some are small.
Some are real.
Some exist only because we imagined them.
All of them have a story to tell.

This exhibit will be on display during the run of DreamWrights Presents: The New Fable Festival and "Mother Goosed"
