The Rotary Club of York challenged students in grades 6-12 to answer the question: Our world needs more than words—it needs action. What action can young people take today to create a fairer, kinder, and more truthful tomorrow? They applied the Rotary Four-Way Test and either submitted a video or post. Over the coming weeks we will highlight the top 3 winners in each category. The winners were awarded their prizes at the end of April. 🌳 31 trees. 17 volunteers. One beautiful Saturday in York.

On April 25th, members of the Rotary Club of York rolled up their sleeves and planted 31 new trees across our city — bringing fresh shade and greenery to King Street, Philadelphia Street, Princess Street, and Allen Park. Three of those trees were planted at the request of neighbors looking to replace ones they'd lost, a reminder that small acts of stewardship grow stronger when the community plants them together.

Huge thanks to Brian Mummert, whose behind-the-scenes work made the day possible — sourcing the trees, delivering them to every site, surveying each spot, and hauling in dirt, fertilizer, and mulch (plus handling cleanup!). And to J.T. Hand and the York Water Company, thank you for keeping these young trees hydrated as they take root.

Here's to watching York grow, one tree at a time. 🌱

Through Chasing the Rainbows, she is transforming how grief, trauma, and mental health are addressed by providing support to families experiencing infertility, pregnancy and infant loss. This program highlights both the human and economic impact of unaddressed grief, as well as how compassionate, consistent care can strengthen families, workplaces, and communities.

We hear from Ryan Hayman, the third-generation owner of Hayman Creative Studio, a 75-year-old, family-owned creative marketing company in York County. Ryan discusses a brief history of the company, the equipment used, and the evolution of film to digital. In addition, he offers insight about the use of stock images and AI, and provides a look into how the Hayman team has captured the products and services of York County businesses over the past seven-plus decades.
