We love to share pictures because pictures tell a full story. This past Saturday WAU members joined our fellow member, sister Franca Iheme for a traditional wedding reception of her beloved daughter Olachi (Ola) and her husband Chinedu. It was a beautiful event full of Nigerian traditions: food, African attires, speeches, music and dances. We started with a cocktail reception followed by a full reception: Yummy dinner and everything else.

You cannot miss the couple (in the center) and mother of the bride (in red) in the picture. Hearty congratulations and well wishes. 🎊

We joined our Kenyan Sisters for their Annual Celebration. We were not prepared for the level of hospitality we received. They prepared a table for us, recognized us and served us food first. Not that we earned it, but civility and respect on their part. Thank you!

We had so much fun at ICT Kenyan Ladies Annual Event. It was a wonderful event full of beautiful and meaningful cultural activities, talks and great food. Here the President of the group is being given flowers as a symbol of appreciation for the great job leading her group and taking good care of their community. We have seen their group leading in times of joy and times of grief. Congratulations President Susan Williams and your team. Our own Laura Bwahama and Sheila Hendrich are part of the leadership circle. Thanks for hosting us so well.

Yesterday WAU joined its community partner, Nigerian Association of Wichita as they celebrated their 66th anniversary for independence from colonial rule. It was a fun event packed with cultural performances by their men and women groups.

October 1st is the actual Independence Day. Happy Independence month for Nigeria!

Next Saturday, October 17th is an event by ICT Kenyan Ladies Group, our other community partner. Tickets are available at Roseline’s International Enterprise, 5025 E. 21st Street N, Wichita, KS 67208. Adding a flyer for the event to the pictures below.
If you love African food, music, dances, other cultural performances etc. make sure to secure your ticket before they run out.
