The iris season is finally beginning.... starting with the MINIATURE DWARF BEARDED (MDB) iris with their height of less than 8" Since they bloom with the daffodils and tulips they can add color and depth to your spring flower garden.
Several commercial iris gardens sell MDBs if you want to check them out on the Internet..... Schrieners, Sutton's and Mid America Iris Garden have a good selection of their newer varieties.
American Iris Society's website provides a lot of information, including a list of additional gardens for you to view.

People in Wenatchee were telling me their tulips and daffodils were blooming, and folks, that's normally the indication that it's time to fertilize the iris plants. Well, now plan on doing that as soon as our snow melts. Sprinkle fertilizer lightly around plant, but not directly on rhizomes, scratch into soil and water.
