At our last meeting one club member advised there were some new “NO Parking” signs along the road heading up Douglas. Creek. It was a oncern there could not be any more vehicle parking alon Wagon Road to off load ATVs and ride up Slack Canyon Road from there.
Thursday I took a trip up to check on them. The signs have been there for some time, like a couple of years or more. The two bottom signs may be of recent.
I had the privilege to visit with a local resident who lives on Wagon Road. The signs are to inform people there is no parking from the bottom up to where the Slack Canyon Road enters into BLM p***c lands. The land owners and Douglas County Public Works were the parties to place the signs.
There is no problem to park vehicles and off load all terrain vehicles on the road side before the signs or along Wagon Road providing none of the driveways are blocked.

I know a lot of the club members are aware that there has not been a lot of recent word from our club. This has been a difficult period over the past 2+years. There was a personality clash which hurt the club, followed by the pandemic, then the city closed down then meeting hall we were using.
Over the past couple of years, the Veterans Hall was moved to a different city owned building adjacent to the Eagle’s Hall on North Wenatchee Avenue. The veterans did a bang up job doing some remodeling and finally were given the green light to open it up.
The down time over the past couple of years hurt our attendance for members attending meetings. There were only 3-4 who were usually there. Now other escalating cost of fuel and related expenses, this too is creating a burden for our club members. Most are prioritizing where it is best to spend money for recreation.
Now for the sad news from me, On June 4, 2022, I had an accident where a side by side fell off of a forklift as it was being unloaded out of a semi trailer. About the time it was about to touch the pavement it fell off of the forklift on to its left side. I caught me and pinned me to the pavement, which cause a back injury which later showed there is a L1 compressed fracture to the vertebrae. The spine specialist has advised that it will take up to 3-4 months to heal hopefully without any surgery. Time will tell. I am now wearing a back brace all the time except when laying own. With doctor recommendations my WATV/ATV riding is now on hold.
With all that is going on in my life, and for the few members who has been attending our club meetings, I am requesting we hold off for a few months. If some one wants to carry on, you are welcome. At the present we do not have any serving officers for the club. I am open for suggestions.
Gene Reed. WVRRATVCLUB president.

The pile just got larger. This afternoon I went back to pick up another 3.30 miles of Monument Hll Road. Counting both sides this amounts to another 6.25 miles of barrow pits cleared of litter. I picked up 8 more contractor trash bags full of mainly bottles and cans, some car tires and electrical media ware.
More appliances were added to the pile too. I was on my 4 wheeler with a small trailer. I could not haul back here another box springs and a home A/C unit.
It really griped me, it was less than 48 hrs when we started this project and today I picked up a fresh tossed out case of Modelo beer cans in a area we cleaned up on Saturday. We certainly have a bunch of low lifers living in our community. It’s time we need to put out a few game cameras to try to catch these litter bugs. On my way hone this eagerly evening there was a occupied parked vehicle along this section of the road. I took a picture of their vehicle when I drove by. Will go tomorrow to see if there is any trash present where they were parked.
