Sage Advocacy Center’s Executive Director, Bethany AlHaidari, has an op-ed in today’s Wenatchee World.
In “Our children deserve better: Local child-abuse victims receive 425% less than the national average,” she highlights critical issues impacting children across Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties.
Sage has 3 full-time child forensic interviewers and child advocates who are proud to work with detectives from the Wenatchee Police Department, the East Wenatchee Police Department, the Okanogan County Sheriff Office, the Chelan County Sheriff's Office and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office - Washington in seeking justice and protecting local children.
Our team sees the toll trauma takes on children and the urgent need for stronger community investment. We also witness how much a child’s future brightens when they have access to wrap-around support services. Sadly, our region’s child-abuse victims are dramatically underfunded compared to the rest of the nation. We must do better for our kids.
Thank you to the Wenatchee World for elevating this important conversation. And thank you to the Sage team, MDT partners, and community members who stand with us in ensuring every child receives safety, healing, and justice.
