What if your nonprofit is using AI, but not yet getting the full benefit?

In this Tech Talk for Nonprofits, Allison Welch, M.Ed., GPC, shares a powerful insight: while 92% of nonprofits are using AI, only 7% are seeing major improvements.

Why the gap?

Many organizations are still using AI one task at a time, like a faster search engine or writing assistant. But the real opportunity comes when nonprofits move beyond “level one” and start using AI as part of a stronger, more connected workflow.

In this session, Allison explores how nonprofit grant writers can use AI in smart, ethical, and practical ways, including:
• Current funder policies on AI use
• The limitations of AI detection tools
• Prompting techniques that actually work
• Ways to use AI as a thought partner in grant development
• How to save time while maintaining authentic voice and mission-driven impact

Thank you to Mayte Tarin for the heart, energy, and intention she brought to Día del Fundador Latino.

From opening the day with reflections on resilience, vision, and community, to emceeing with warmth and care, to moderating meaningful conversations about the Latino founder journey, Mayte helped create a space that felt welcoming, thoughtful, and full of connection.

We’re so grateful for the way she helped shape such a meaningful experience for entrepreneurs and community members alike, and for the fun, positive energy she brought to Flywheel as a whole.

A huge thank you to our moderator, Rosie Martin, Conductora del Proyecto iLumina at NCW Tech Alliance, and our amazing guest panelists Laura Bruders Torres of Neu Flessenow Cellars, Silvia Villanueva Mar of The Cleaning Box, and Mayra Garcia of Viva Creative Studio.

At Día del Fundador Latino, they shared honest, inspiring stories about what happens after the launch — the learning, adapting, growing, and support it takes to build a business.

We are so grateful for the wisdom and encouragement they shared with our community!
