📢👂 📢 IMPORTANT UPDATE ON RETIREMENTPLUS: We have learned that RetirementPlus will be taken up as a stand-alone bill very soon! We obtained this information through positive discussions and public comments made by several senators, including State Senator Liz Miranda, D-Second Suffolk, who announced: “that there is a clear path to taking up RetirementPlus legislation very soon.”

đź“° This is significant news! We thank all MTA members who helped move this issue forward. Without your grassroots advocacy, this progress would not have been possible. We ask that you continue working on this issue and urge your state senator to support a Fair Fix for RetirementPlus.

👏We also give special thanks to State Senator Liz Miranda, whose determination and unwavering advocacy have been invaluable.

Let’s get this bill over the finish line. Please thank your senators in emails and express your support for an expedient fix to R+!!

Gratitude to the Massachusetts State Senate for agreeing to bring RetirementPlus to the floor by the end of the school year. Wellesley deeply needs the budgetary support this bill could bring, as well as fulfilling the State’s promise to ensure a dignified retirement for public servants. This is democracy in action. Please lead by example.

Please call your state senator now and express support for Amendment 638 to the budget! This can help your town reinvest in public education and support a dignified retirement. Let's go!

Find your legislator by entering your street address, city/town, and ZIP code. Please note that you can only search addresses within Massachusetts, and that not entering the complete street address, city/town, and ZIP code may result in an inaccurate response.

Senate President Karen E. Spilka. Please systemically support public education with Amendment 638. Wellesley’s budget shortfalls need your help. We need younger educators in the field, and we need to fulfill the promise made to our veteran educators for a dignified retirement!

Want to save Wellesley nearly $600k a year!?

Please reach out to your state senators and ask them to sign on to the Miranda Amendment (638) as a cosponsor to pass RetirementPlus!

Here’s a template you can use for calls and emails:

“Dear Senator____,

I’m writing to thank you for your continued support for the Fair Fix for RetirementPlus. As a constituent, I’m writing to ask you to please sign on as a cosponsor to senate budget amendment 638 sponsored by Sen Miranda, which will add the Fair Fix language to the Senate budget.

“As you know, this problem with R+ has existed since 2001, and 25 years is long enough. Let’s come together to get this issue fixed by the end of June so that we all have a reason to celebrate as we head into summer vacation and the fall election season.

Thank you again,

Your name”
