Day 1 of the North Central Football Camp is in the books!

Newman Catholic Football was proud to be one of nine schools and more than 235 athletes participating at D.C. Everest today. It was a great day of learning, competition, and preparation as our Cardinals continue to put in the work for the season ahead.

While the spring High School sports season isn't quite over with the state baseball and girls' soccer state tournaments finishing things off this week, it's not too early to look ahead to the 2026 HS football season. This week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9 area High Schools and more than 235 foo...

🎓Senior Spotlight: Quincy🏈

Leader. Driven. Inspiring.

Some players lead with their words. Others lead through their actions. Quincy did both.

No matter the situation, Quincy looked out for the people around him. Whether it was making sure a teammate had a ride, checking in on younger players, or helping others feel included, he consistently put the team first. He had a way of connecting with teammates and making people feel supported.

His commitment to the program showed in everything he did. Quincy never missed a practice, was always in the weight room, and consistently set the standard for work ethic and accountability. As a quarterback, leadership comes with the position, but for Quincy it went far beyond football. The way he carried himself, communicated, and guided others made him someone teammates naturally looked up to.

Congratulations on your graduation, Quincy. Your leadership and influence will always be remembered, and you will always have a place here.

❤️Always a Cardinal.🩵

🎉 Congratulations to Quincy Pfender on his upcoming graduation from NCS! He will be attending UW-La Crosse in the fall — and we’re cheering him on all the way! ❤️💙

🎓Senior Spotlight: Damien🏈

Bulldog mentality. Passionate. Selfless.

Damien has been the kind of player every team needs: tough, dependable, and always willing to do whatever was asked of him to help the team succeed. No matter the challenge, he stepped up without hesitation.

His bulldog mentality showed every day, whether it meant changing positions or stepping in to play center during practice. Damien cared about making the team better, and that toughness and willingness to sacrifice for others was truly commendable.

Beyond the field, Damien brought passion, grit, and an attitude that pushed those around him to compete harder. He embraced every role and every opportunity with the mindset of doing whatever it takes for the team.

Congratulations on your graduation, Damien. Your toughness and selflessness will always be remembered, and you will always have a place here.

❤️Always a Cardinal.🩵

❗️ Reminder for all football families, football camp registration is open, along with Speed Camp and summer Weight Room sessions! These are great opportunities for athletes to build strength, speed, and team chemistry heading into the season. Let’s keep putting in the work this summer! 💪🏻 🏈

We’re excited to once again offer a variety of summer athletic camps for Newman Catholic students! These camps are a great opportunity for students to stay active, build skills, connect with teammates and classmates, and work with our varsity coaching staff throughout the summer.

Our goal is to keep these programs affordable and accessible for families while giving students a fun and positive experience heading into the fall sports season. If financial concerns arise, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We want every student to have the opportunity to participate.

To help us plan accordingly, we ask families to register as soon as possible. Click the link to view available camps and registration information: https://www.newmancatholicschools.com/athletics/camps-and-clinics

Please note that volleyball camp dates have changed with the addition of our new volleyball coach. Families should refer to the website for the most up-to-date camp information and schedules.

🎓Senior Spotlight: Everett🏈

Humble. Confident. Respectful.

Everett has been the definition of reliability for this program. No matter the circumstance, he has always been there for his team. They say the best ability is availability, and Everett has proven that time and time again.

His toughness and commitment have shown in every situation. Even after missing a week of practice before a playoff game because of injury, Everett came back and stepped onto the field ready to compete for his team. No matter the situation, he always found a way to perform.

Beyond the plays he made, Everett brought a quiet confidence, humility, and respect that earned the trust of everyone around him. He has been a steady and dependable part of this team from start to finish.

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation, Everett. You will always have a place here and will always be welcome back.

His steady presence, selfless attitude, and commitment to doing whatever it takes have made him someone his teammates and coaches can always count on. He leads not just by effort, but by the example he sets every single day.

This past weekend, Coach Michlig attended and presented at the I8FA clinic hosted by the I8FA - Illinois 8-Man Football Association.

He was honored to speak on Special Teams and grateful to share the stage with respected coaches like Terry Laube (Owen-Withee) and Corey Rickert (Oakfield), as well as present alongside Albert Goerlitz (Owen-Withee), someone he was proud to coach with in the WFCA All-Star Game. Opportunities to talk football with coaches he respects and calls friends made the experience even more meaningful.

A sincere thank you to Peoria Heights High School (Peoria Heights CUSD #325, Peoria Heights Patriots Athletics) for hosting. It is a beautiful school with an outstanding staff who made everyone feel welcome. The hospitality was truly appreciated.

Thank you as well to the Illinois 8-Man Football Association for the opportunity. Coach Michlig has been fortunate to present throughout the Midwest, and as Coach Laube noted, those opportunities come as a result of team success. That success is a direct credit to the players and assistant coaches who put in the work every day.

One of the most valuable parts of events like this is the connection among coaches, sharing ideas, talking football, and building relationships that otherwise might never have formed.

It is always a privilege to give back to the game, especially alongside people you respect.
