As we close Mental Illness Awareness Week and recognize World Mental Health Day, we're celebrating something at the heart of NAMI: lived experience.

The voices of people living with mental health conditions and the families who love them belong in conversations about mental health. They help challenge stigma, inform care, shape programs, and remind others that they aren't alone.

At NAMI Northwoods, lived experience isn't something we hide. It's one of our greatest strengths.

Every time someone shares their story, speaks openly about mental health, or uses their experience to support someone else, we make a little more room for understanding and a little less room for stigma.

Your story matters. Your voice matters.

For the final day of National Voter Education Week, here's your challenge:

Think of three people in your life. Friends, family, coworkers, neighbors. Check in with them and make sure they have what they need to vote with confidence.

Better yet, make voting something you do together.

Share voting information. Help someone look up their ballot. Make a plan. Offer a ride. Go vote together.

Sometimes the most powerful encouragement doesn't come from an ad or a campaign. It comes from someone we trust.
