EAA chapter meeting today, we even had one of the EAA’s one week wonders fly over. One thing that impressed me was all the young people that attended.

Young Eagles for Saturday has been cancelled due to high winds, however, members should join us at noon for a very important VOTE on the incoming chapter leadership!!
Lunch of bbq will be served, please bring a dish to share.

Kids ages 8-17 can get a taste of general aviation this Saturday, Oct 10th.
Weather permitting, EAA pilots will take youth for a short introductory flight from Wausau Downtown Airport - the event takes place at the Learn Build Fly hangars

We had perfect weather for our September gathering. We gave young eagle rides ina neighboring town, pushed out a new plane in Wausau for an engine run in the morning and had a wonderful presentation on spacewalking from former NASA trainer Matt G. See all the pictures for captions.

It was a great day for Young Eagles flights!!
Thanks to our pilots, registration and ground crew, and volunteers from Stevens Point Pilots Association and Civil Air Patrol Wisconsin Wing Stevens Point Composite Squadron.

We flew 38 Young Eagles, many for the first time ever in general aviation aircraft. We shared with each family about the incredible opportunities through EAA - The Spirit of Aviation Young Eagles and Sporty's Pilot Shop - and local opportunities - you didn't get to take notes here are the highlights on the local places to stay involved:

- Stevens Point Pilots Association meets quarterly with pilot safety training, events, and camaraderie, see link above
- Stevens Point Area Flying Club offers ground school and learn to fly programs and more
- EAA Chapter 640 (that's us!) meets monthly in Wausau
-. Learn Build Fly is a free program where youth can learn trade skills and get involved in building and restoring aircraft, every Tuesday in Wausau
- Stevens Point Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol has a Cadet program for ages 12-21 and many opportunities for adults as well, and meets Monday evenings.
-Wausau Flying Service, Inc./Wausau Downtown Airport for Aviation 101 - Wausau School District High School elective as well as Pilot for a Day opportunities and training.

This weekend's Young Eagles Rally in Stevens Point has been postponed due to weather. We hope to see you there on Sept 26!

That is also the date of our chapter gathering in Wausau, apologies for that but we ran out of weeks!
