Congratulations to our member, Amy Bushatz, who founded the nonprofit Mat-Su Sentinel two years ago and has been steadily making local news more accessible every since.

The Mat-Su Sentinel has acquired the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman from Arizona-based Wick Communications, marking a major shift in ownership for the nearly 80-year-old newspaper and bringing the publication under locally based nonprofit ownership. The transition takes effect June 1, Wick and Mat-Su Se...

☀️🌊 SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE! 🌊☀️

The sun is shining, the lakes are calling, and families across the Mat-Su are heading out to enjoy Alaska's beautiful waters.

As you make memories this summer, remember one simple rule:

🦦 Kids Don't Float!

Josh the Otter reminds us that wearing a properly fitted life jacket can save a life. Whether you're boating, fishing, kayaking, swimming, or simply playing near the water, life jackets should always be part of the adventure.

💙 Wear your life vest.
💙 Set a good example.
💙 Keep our kids safe.

From all of us at Susitna Rotary, we wish you a fun, safe, and memorable summer on the water!

🎉 FRIDAY FUN DAY! 🎉

Did you know Rotary is about so much more than meetings and service projects?

Rotary Fellowships connect members from around the world who share the same passions, hobbies, and interests. Whether you love fishing, hiking, photography, aviation, RV travel, motorcycles, boating, amateur radio, or dozens of other activities, there's probably a Rotary Fellowship for you!

🌎 Make friends across the globe
✈️ Travel and share adventures
📸 Connect with people who love what you love
🤝 Build lifelong friendships through Rotary

Rotary proves that service and fellowship go hand in hand. Many members join Rotary to make a difference, but stay because of the friendships they make along the way.

💙 In Alaska, we know a thing or two about adventure, and Rotary Fellowships are a great way to connect with fellow Rotarians who share your passion for the outdoors and beyond!

👇 Tell us in the comments: If there was a Rotary Fellowship for your favorite hobby, what would it be?

⚙️💙 THE HISTORY OF SUSITNA ROTARY 💙⚙️

From the Little Su Classic…
to the Zombie Walk…
to community luaus and unforgettable fundraisers…
Susitna Rotary has always believed service should bring people together. ❤️

For years, Susitna Rotary events weren’t just fundraisers — they were community traditions. Families gathered. Businesses partnered. Volunteers showed up. Memories were made.

And the impact lasted far beyond the event itself.

Funds raised helped support projects that still benefit our community today — including parks, access ramps, youth programs, scholarships, safety initiatives, and local improvement projects across the Valley.

Susitna Rotary built more than events.
✨ We built connection.
✨ We built community.
✨ We built opportunities for people to serve side by side.

The history of this club is written in muddy boots after cleanups, laughter at fundraisers, long volunteer nights, and the friendships formed along the way.

To every member, volunteer, sponsor, and community supporter who helped shape Susitna Rotary through the years — thank you for being part of the story.

We appreciate the generosity of our members! Thank you to Matt Norton and Norton Management Services for helping an earlier phase of this project come together.

This weekend, we will be installing the storybook signs on the trail and prepping for our annual Little Susitna River cleanup and BBQ in June 6th.

The city of Houston will also be hosting their 60th birthday celebration that day.

A little throwback to that time we donated our time and equipment to blaze a trail for the Story Book Trail at the Little Su River.

Need some trails made? Land cleared? Construction site leveled?

Give us a call!

There are two Casting for Recovery (CfR) retreats taking place in Alaska this year. CfR is a nonprofit organization that offers fully expense paid, 2.5-day fly fishing retreats for women living with or recovering from breast cancer. Participants apply through their home state, and women from all 50 states are served.
In Alaska, we will host two retreats in Kenai:
• August 28-30, 2026— for Alaskan women (application deadline: June 18)
• September 11-13, 2026 — for Alaska Native women (application deadline: July 2)

✨ MEMBER SPOTLIGHT ✨

This week, Susitna Rotary is proud to spotlight! Hally Marshall

Some people serve because they have to.
Hally serves because it’s who she is. 💙

Kind, compassionate, hardworking, and always willing to jump in wherever needed — Hally is often the very first person to say “YES!” when help is needed. And it’s not just words… her follow-through is unmatched. She pours her whole heart into every project, every event, and every person she encounters.

Whether she’s helping behind the scenes, supporting community projects, or lifting up fellow Rotarians, Hally consistently goes above and beyond expectations with grace, positivity, and genuine care for others.

Her beautiful spirit reminds us what Rotary is truly about: Service. Fellowship. Heart. ✨

Thank you, Hally, for being such an incredible part of the Susitna Rotary family and for making our community brighter simply by being YOU. 💛

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our nation. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy every day, and their courage will never be forgotten.
Across Alaska, from small communities to our largest cities, Rotarians of District 5010 honor the legacy of those who served by continuing to live out “Service Above Self” in our communities and around the world.
This Memorial Day, may we reflect with gratitude, support military families, and remember the true cost of freedom.
We remember. 🇺🇸
