At Tuesday’s trial press conference in Oakland, Erin Popolo spoke about her daughter, Emily Murillo, who died by su***de after relentless cyberbullying and harassment.

Erin’s message resonated with us: these platforms are not neutral. These systems are designed to maximize engagement, even when that engagement involves cruelty, humiliation, and harm toward our children.

A New Mexico court just did what Congress still hasn't: it required Meta to better protect children.

Meta now faces nearly $1 billion in penalties and court-ordered remedies including funding for youth mental health and changes to how its platforms protect young users. Teen accounts must receive stronger safeguards, recommendations are restricted, usage limits imposed, and protections against predators strengthened.

Children in New Mexico shouldn't be the only ones with these protections.
Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Senator Marsha Blackburn, Senator Maria Cantwell and Senator Charles Schumer:

Pass the Kids Online Safety Act as a standalone bill. No carve-outs for Big Tech. No last-minute loopholes.

One state proved accountability is possible.
Now it's Congress's turn.
