What if the beginnings of a new livelihood were already there?

For families in the communities where Kudvumisa Foundation works in Eswatini, skills and natural resources are abundant—but access to markets can be limited by distance, transportation costs, and a lack of local economic infrastructure.

That’s where Kudvumisa Foundation comes in.

Our October Project of the Month helps community members build on what they already know, grow, make, and do—connecting them with training, infrastructure, and markets beyond their immediate communities.

So far, more than 150 families have participated in programs involving sewing, marula oil, moringa, crawfish, and more.

The income generated can help families make more of their own choices about food, education, health care, their homes, and their futures.

💚 This month, Project of the Month Club members are helping Kudvumisa Foundation create even more pathways from local resources to lasting opportunity.

This International Week of Deaf People, we’re celebrating Deaf communities and the organizations helping create greater access, opportunity, and inclusion.

In Pakistan, GlobalGiving partner Deaf Welfare Awareness Foundation (DWAF) works to strengthen vocational skills and professional opportunities for Deaf people while helping shift public perceptions of what Deaf people can achieve.

International Day of Peace may have been yesterday, but the work of building peace happens every day. 🕊️

This year’s theme, Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day, celebrates the people working in their own communities to build greater safety, dignity, cooperation, and opportunity.

Across the GlobalGiving community, local leaders are doing just that.

National Preparedness Month is an opportunity to think about what communities need before, during, and after disaster.

Wildfire recovery can take years—and rebuilding is about much more than replacing what was lost. It can mean supporting local businesses, restoring ecosystems, making space for grief, strengthening infrastructure, protecting people from displacement, and continuing to listen to local leaders as needs change.

We’ve highlighted a few ideas in this carousel, inspired by community organizations that have led wildfire recovery around the world.

Twenty-five years after September 11, the Safer World Fund continues a legacy built from loss—and rooted in hope.

Three people who lost loved ones in the attacks created the fund as a living memorial, choosing to honor their loved ones by supporting women and girls in Afghanistan and Pakistan through education, health care, economic opportunity, and more.

Today, that commitment continues through the annual Safer World Campaign.

Participating organizations are carrying this work forward despite international aid cuts, government restrictions, and other challenges that have made securing resources increasingly difficult. Starting today at 10:00 AM EDT, donations to participating projects will be matched dollar for dollar while matching funds last.

On this anniversary, we remember those who were lost and support people working toward a safer, more equitable future.

Some of the most important work of rebuilding begins before anything looks rebuilt. 💚

This month, GlobalGiving’s Project of the Month Club is supporting Teaching for Peace, a project helping Syrian teachers create safer, more supportive classrooms for children affected by years of conflict.

After 15 years of war, Syria’s education system continues to face immense challenges. Millions of children have been displaced, schools have been destroyed, and many teachers are managing aggression, bullying, tension, and emotional distress with few tools or resources to help.

Teaching for Peace provides educators with hands-on training in peace education, conflict resolution, empathy, and psychosocial support. Teachers then bring those skills back to their schools through projects that use art, dialogue, and other activities to bring students, parents, and communities together.

The idea is simple but powerful: when teachers have the support to create peaceful classrooms, those lessons can spread far beyond school walls.

Thank you to our Project of the Month Club members for helping more teachers across Syria build spaces where children can learn, connect, and grow—and where communities can continue rebuilding trust.
