Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing moms and mothering people! 💗💐

It was the love of a mother that drove the creation of PFLAG, and your love and support continue to make an impact in the LGBTQ+ community. Today, we celebrate all of you--LGBTQ+ moms, straight and cis moms, chosen and step-moms, trans moms, gender nonconforming moms, and all mothering people--for everything you do to make this world a more loving and inclusive place for your LGBTQ+ kids of all ages. 🏳️‍🌈

May 5 is National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives (MMIWR).

Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people face alarmingly high rates of violence and disappearance, yet their stories are too often ignored or erased.

In solidarity with Native communities—and as part of our ongoing efforts to support and uplift our LGBTQ+ Indigenous loved ones—we encourage you to dive deeper, uplift Indigenous-led organizations, and take action, whether by amplifying voices, supporting grassroots efforts, or educating your own communities.

As a starting point, check out the following Native-led organizations:
• The National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center | niwrc.org
• The Urban Indian Health Institute | uihi.org
• The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women | csvanw.org

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—let’s take this time to refill our cups with some powerful truths:

You are not alone. You are loved. You matter. Your feelings are valid. We are here for you. It is okay to ask for help. We are here for you.

Do not neglect your mental health: Visit pflag.org/Mental-Health-Resources for a list of mental health resources, and if you need immediate assistance or are in crisis, the first link will take you to our list of support hotlines.

We’ve got this. We’ve got us. 🫂🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Newsflash: it’s never been about “the children”.

In a country where the #1 cause of the death amongst adolescents are fi****ms, why are some lawmakers clutching their pearls about drag story hours?

In a country with well over 300,000 kids in foster care, why are some lawmakers hand-wringing about kids with two dads or two moms, while others are working to stop LGBTQ+ people from providing foster care and adopting?

In a country hellbent on slashing funding for public school programs, why are some lawmakers targeting and excluding trans kids from playing sports?

Children are being used by some lawmakers as pawns to further hateful, anti-LGBTQ+ agendas that hurt ALL of us. The next time you hear, “But think of the children!” ask yourself: who is ACTUALLY being helped? And who is ACTUALLY being harmed?
