The OHS Library & Archives announces the acquisition of the Edward Hodges Diary! This 414-page manuscript offers a rare glimpse into the life of the English organist and composer, primarily covering the years between 1814 to 1820. The diary also includes entries from the first half of 1824 and detailed accounts of the 1812 parliamentary elections in Bristol, England.

Edward Hodges is a pivotal figure in liturgical history, best known for introducing the English Cathedral music tradition to the Anglican Church in the United States, and for designing the Henry Erben organ at Trinity Church in New York, New York, where he was elected organist in 1839. We are deeply grateful to Kathy Hodges, a direct descendant, and her husband Peter Thomas for donating the diary and providing the transcription.

The OHS Oral History Project continues with accomplished organ builder and longtime OHS board member, Bill Czelusniak!

Czelusniak and Dugal, Inc. began building and servicing pipe organs in 1971. From their base in Northampton, Massachusetts, the company built a roster of institutional heavyweights that includes Amherst College, the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth College, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Bill Czelusniak has been an OHS member for over fifty years, serving as OHS president from 2013-2015, and, as a board member, steering the organization through some of its most significant periods of growth.

This oral history interview focuses on the last fifteen years of OHS governance, as the organization has taken stock of its approach to conventions, created new bylaws, and consolidated its collections in the archives at Stoneleigh.
