Recently an inquisitive researcher asked the OHS Library and Archives (OHSLA) staff to pull images of iconic organ builders, and we thought our membership might enjoy seeing the faces that we discovered too!

The selected images represented here include portraits of C.B. Fisk and Ernest M. Skinner, plus a snapshot of Robert Hope-Jones rubbing shoulders with potential investors at Elmira First Congregational Church. And be sure to look closely in the first two rows in the third featured image to spot Hope-Jones alongside the very recognizable literary giant, Mark Twain!

On a recent trip to France, OHS Interim CEO Marcia Sommers enjoyed an afternoon with Bruno Chaumet, who has been the President of the Association des Amis de l’Art de Marcel Dupré since 1997. It is thanks to Bruno's efforts that many archival materials are now publicly accessible.

Under his leadership, the Association des Amis de l’Art de Marcel Dupré has published several CDs with improvisations as well as a DVD, which is the only film document that shows Marcel Dupré making music playing the organ, and an item that we carry in the OHS Catalog. Pictured left to right in the featured photograph are Bruno Chaumet, Marcia Sommers and her husband, Kenneth Dauscher, and Bruno's partner, Daniel Canardon.

Just ahead of the holiday season comes a revised and enlarged edition of the monumental study of the great composer and organist Louis Vierne of Notre-Dame Cathedral from Rollin Smith!
