Joanne joined our team recently as our Education Associate. She believes that sharing food is a form of connection and that food accessibility is key to stronger communities. Joanne has worked in environmental education for several years and holds a bachelor’s degree from VCU in environmental studies as well as a certificate in community engagement. She loves to spend her free time cooking and studying herpetology. She leads field trips on both farms, and is a wonderful part of the team!

Join Natasha Crawford of Healing Hope Urban Gardens for a workshop on growing mushrooms in containers at the Northside Pavilion on October 24, 10:30-12:00p!
Learn how you can grow your own mushrooms at home, using a budget + beginner friendly method. In this class we will discuss the best mushroom varieties for this method, how to source the materials at little to no cost, where and how to grow them, and why you should!

There is still space in our Kids' Cooking Class this Saturday! Come through to learn with Chef Jason how to have kids in the kitchen, engaged with their nutrition, learning skills, and being involved!
Many of our workshops are now on a waitlist, but check out the line up– room still in Mushroom Propagation, and joining the waitlist gives us a better idea of how to plan in the future.

We were able to share produce recently with Divine World Changers so they could distribute fresh food at their fall festival. We partner regularly with 12+ community organizations to share food with our neighbors beyond our programming.

Open Space Education came by today to lead a natural pigments workshop, exploring pressing, rolling, and mortaring found materials and chalk! It was a delight! Check out our remaining fall workshop series with options for kids and adults!
