Today, Philadelphia City Council officially recognized June 15 as Elora Joyce Khan Pediatric Brain Cancer Awareness Day honoring what would have been Elora's 10th birthday and shining a light on one of the deadliest childhood cancers.
We are deeply grateful to Councilmember Isaiah Thomas for championing this resolution, Council President Kenyatta Johnson for standing with our family and sharing his own connection after losing his 9-year-old nephew to brain cancer, Councilmember Nina Ahmad, and the many City Council members and staff who welcomed us with compassion and support.
What began as our fight for Elora has grown into a movement making pediatric brain cancer impossible to ignore across Pennsylvania.
From the State Capitol in Harrisburg to Philadelphia City Hall, communities across the Commonwealth are standing together for children affected by pediatric brain cancer. On June 15, landmarks, buildings, bridges, and communities will shine blue and purple in honor of Elora and every child impacted by this disease.
A little girl who lived just seven years is helping change the future for children across Pennsylvania.
Because kids can't fight alone. 💙💜
