Our donors’ support makes it possible for the Library to bring engaging artists and creative programs to youth at the Juvenile Detention Center. In September, artist Dolores Haro guided youth through creating their own lotería-style moon paintings (an example of that style shown here). The experience gave them space to explore their creativity, express themselves, and take pride in something they created. When released, the youth can take their original paintings with them. In the meantime, color reproductions are displayed in the library above the Spanish-language book collection—a lasting reminder of their creativity and accomplishments.

The Pima Library Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit that raises private support to help the Pima County Public Library expand programs, resources and opportunities for our community. Are we the same as Friends of the Library? No. We share the same love for our Library, but we support it in different ways. Are we part of the Library? No. But we work closely with the Library to provide support for the programs and services that matter most to our community. Learn more by visiting https://thepimalibraryfoundation.org

The Pima Library Foundation is proud to support Community Outreach at the Pima County Public Library, bringing Library resources and opportunities directly to families and communities across Pima County. Through cultural programs, STEM activities, outreach events, and partnerships with Tribal Nations and community organizations, Library staff help people discover all the Library has to offer. Your support helps provide the equipment, technology, and books that make these connections possible. https://thepimalibraryfoundation.org

The Pima Library Foundation is proud to support 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, a Pima County Public Library program that helps children discover the joy of reading while building the early literacy skills they need to thrive. Your generosity helps make those moments possible. Foundation funding provides families with starter kits, reading logs, and milestone books that turn reading into a shared experience – creating opportunities for parents and children to learn, connect, and dream together. Every book read is a step toward a brighter future. Together, we can help give young children a lifelong love of reading. https://thepimalibraryfoundation.org/

The Pima Library Foundation is supporting the Pima County Public Library’s program at the Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) again this year. This program connects justice-involved youth with Library resources that support their educational, recreational and cultural needs. Financial support for this program provides program/presenter expenses (community members who present at the JDC are an example of caring adults rooting for their success) and technology that will provide corrections-grade access to digital Library materials for the FIRST TIME.

The Pima Library Foundation is excited to announce this year’s funding initiatives. We are continuing our support of the Pima County Public Library's program at the Juvenile Detention Center. This program provides resources to support educational, recreational and information needs. The second Library program is 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This program supports early literacy through parents reading with their children. The third program is the Library’s Outreach Program. The Library’s Affinity Teams provide outreach to local Latinx and Indigenous communities, participate in events where they share information about the Library and encourage people to sign up for Library cards. We look forward to sharing more soon!

Have you had a chance to read this article? It’s about Trent Lee, who recently placed second in the 2026 Arizona State Poetry Society’s annual youth poetry contest. It’s a nice illustration of how Libraries impact our community. It also shows why we need to continue to support Library programs.

New to Tucson from South Korea in 2008, Kyung Sun Park found community at the Pima County Public Library.  By 2009, her infant son, Trent, accompanied her to read, ask questions, practice English and lug home books.  Those library visits laid the foundation for a love of reading, sure. The trips a...

You made it happen! We fulfilled our funding commitment to the Library for this year. All of us at the Pima Library Foundation are grateful for your support. Your generosity is humbling.

During this time of year we meet with the Library and learn about where they need support. Together we work to match their needs with what our donors care about most. It's an exciting time as we determine our initiatives for the next year.
