Our Mission and Approach:
United Way of Tucson responds to our community’s needs, transforms lives and brings long-lasting systemic change to our community by focusing on the underlying issues. We fight for education, financial wellness, equality and healthy communities for every person in Tucson and Southern Arizona. Our role as community convener enables us to serve more than 180,000 people each year by forming strategic partnerships, mobilizing the best resources and being the catalyst for needed, positive change. Our Vision:
A community where every child receives a high-quality education from birth to career, every adult has the opportunity to thrive financially and, in the workplace, and every older person can retire and age with dignity and independence. Our History:
This year we are proud to celebrate our 100 year anniversary, a century of service at United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona has taught us many things and one of the most critical is that this work is too important to do alone – we must take a united approach. And it is the past, specifically the past century of service, that United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona celebrates today, for it was in 1922, established as the Community Chest of Tucson. After 100 years we are not only still here but we are engaging in more collaboratively driven work than ever in our community thanks to the generous volunteers, donors, board members, staff, and other stakeholders who have willingly, and ably, served through the years. Today we are proud to actively work with more than 80 non-profit agencies, surrounding cities and municipalities in three counties, dozens of local, regional, and national foundations, and hundreds of business and educational entities. Building a Thriving Community by Uniting People, Ideas, and Resources.

🌵💙 DAY 1 DOWN. SOUTHERN ARIZONA SHOWED UP!

From classrooms and community spaces to neighborhoods across our region, today was a reminder of what happens when Southern Arizona comes together for good.

Day 1 of United Way's Days of Caring was all about turning community spirit into community impact. Volunteers, local businesses, nonprofit partners, and neighbors rolled up their sleeves to make a meaningful difference in the places we call home.

A HUGE thank you to our incredible community partners, volunteers, and project leaders who made today possible! Special shoutout to the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management for helping us kick off the morning and setting the tone for a day of service and connection! 🙌

But we're not done yet! 👀

Tomorrow brings another day of opportunities to show up, give back, and create lasting change across Tucson and Southern Arizona.

Because Days of Caring is about more than volunteering. It's about building a stronger, more connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

For decades, United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona has championed early childhood education, helping lay the groundwork for programs like Pima County's PEEPs. Today, we're building on that legacy!

We're celebrating a $100,000 investment from Tucson Electric Power (TEP) to Supercharging PEEPs, helping expand access to high-quality preschool for more children and families.

This milestone builds on community collaboration that began in 2025 and months of conversations with TEP to bring this partnership to life.

A special thank you to TEP CEO Susan Gray and Pima County Supervisors Rex Scott and Andrés Cano for joining us today!

We're also grateful to First Things First, the Center for Economic Integrity, Southern Arizona Leadership Council, Pima County, The Preschool Promise and our many community partners.

As the first corporate investment in Supercharging PEEPs, we hope this inspires others to join us!

Our call to businesses, philanthropists and neighbors: Invest in early childhood education. When we invest in children, we're investing in stronger families, a stronger workforce and a stronger Southern Arizona.
