⛏️ Reminder: Our Archaeology Dig is happening tomorrow, Saturday, May 30!

Dig sessions begin at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Even if you are not registered to participate, everyone is welcome to stop by and observe the excavation process.

Why are we digging? The land where the library now stands has a long history as a place for education dating back to Troy’s earliest city planning. The historic photo shown here was taken from the top of the “new” courthouse in 1888, looking west across town. In the foreground is the Edwards School, located where the Troy-Miami County Public Library stands today.

The original school on the site was called Union School before being renamed in honor of Superintendent William N. Edwards after his passing. That building was later replaced by the school building constructed in 1892.

Come explore a piece of Troy’s history with us! 📚🏺

Participation spots are still available.
