Folks,

We are looking for ADOPTERS for these dogs. It has become apparent that the good majority of good hearted people out here either think a Police Dept can just swoop in and grab them up, OR on the flip side, those ā€œknow it allsā€ that think we are absolutely ignorant and ill equipped to be placing them, because we ā€œdon’t knowā€ what we’re doing. So, I guess it’s just best to euthanize them all then. Right?

This rescue is FULL of really smart people. We have to be to do what we’re doing, with dogs who are STILL highly sought after to exploit, and are STILL being discriminated against. Use your heads.

Through the years we have had numerous police officers foster for us. We’ve had just as many associated in law enforcement in one capacity or another, firefighters, first responders, and right now one of our Board Members who has been with us for 10 or more years, works with the Sherrifs Dept.

We’re not stupid. We are definitely not ill equipped. Are we lacking confidence and a bit unsure? YES!! Why? Because we do not have the one on one experience with these amazing dogs. And to reiterate, never in a million years would we WILLINGLY pull these dogs from a shelter when there are REALLY good, highly experienced breed specific rescues out here. And truth is, if we weren’t a little unsure we’d be on the fast track to failing them. And us.

The universe played a joke, and we’re doing the best we can for these DOGS.

Now, back to the original statement, most police departments purchase their working dogs from breeders who have a long history of breeding these dogs to do police work. A very necessary thing. While there is an occasional one off, backyard bred dogs don’t have those qualities, because… well, they’re backyard bred by idiots who don’t know what TF they’re doing, case in point. This is exactly why and how these dogs ended up HERE. At a Pit Bull rescue, in OHIO, 500 miles from where they were born.

Some of you can’t read either, which is a shame in this day and age, because when we started posting these dogs we were asking for officers, NOT departments, who may have been looking for a personal dog.

We need EXPERIENCED HANDLERS, whether police offices, retired or active, members of law enforcement in other capacities, search and rescue, OR people who currently have, or have had these dogs who KNOW them and what they need to succeed. Just because they’re not top bred, it doesn’t mean they’re poodles. They still have specific needs that THESE people are better equipped to handle.

We are šŸ’Æ confident in our processing and placing skills we have learned throughout the years. We just need help finding the right people.

We are making exceptions (as has been stated way too many times) on adoption radius, and status of S/N of personal or kept working or retired K9s inside the home, OR those who either show their dogs or are actively working their dogs. We ALSO understand the purpose of this, and aren’t so dumb not to accept it.

These dogs are PETS, and are being adopted out as such. Not purchased. If you adopt one and it turns out to be the perfect other-than-pet, you just got a really good dog for CHEAP, and we will love that for you (and the puppy)!

The dogs are here: https://www.petfinder.com/member/us/oh/dayton/miami-valley-pit-crew-oh1002/

IF you are one of the aforementioned people and would like to speak to someone PLEASE email [email protected] and she will connect you with the appropriate person.

We have 6 of the 8 puppies left. One is going to a highly experienced family, and the other is going to a prison guard who works K9s at her job. So, we’re doing ok so far. We need 6 more people just like this!! Keep sharing!

šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰Hey, hey, hey Crew! It’s time for this weeks ā€œname the LPā€ contest, brought to you courtesy of Remi.

*Round 1* rules are simple:

We need everyone involved here, so even if your brain isn’t always waiting for a moment to be silly, we still need your votes. You can do this by a šŸ‘šŸ» on your favorite!

You all seem to like 2 days to vote, so 2 days you get! Voting for this round will close at 10am Sat morning. Round 2 will be posted at that time.

Aren’t they sharing nicely??? We might actually be ruining them after all. 😜

WOW! These Malinois puppies have really created quite a stir. We appreciate all of the help and support we have received, and are pleasantly surprised by the quality of some of the applications that have come in. We have also received quite a few that were, for lack of better words, "interesting reading". It turns out that a lot of Malinois people are just as squirrely as the breed itself.

To make this whole process easier on ourselves, and you, let me point out a few important facts about our adoptions. Our adoption process and procedures are time tested, and work very well for us and our adoptors. And most importantly, for our MVPs. The rules are there for a reason, and based on years of rescue experience. They are not arbitrary. We are told on a regular basis that we are too strict. WE ARE! AND IT'S ON PURPOSE! And to be totally honest, with this particular breed, we are being even more so.

With all that in mind, let me make a few suggestions that may save some people some time, and possibly some upset.

DON'TS:
Don't apply asking for exceptions to the rules because they shouldn't apply to you. On the rare occasion that we offer a certain exception, it will be listed on a dogs bio beforehand

Don't try to tell us how we should be doing things. We like us just the way we are, and won't be changing anytime soon. Go find a rescue that does things the way you like them. We promise we won't be offended.

Even worse, DON’T, upon being contacted, start off by explaining to us how things are going to go. I can 100% assure you they are not.

Don't ask us to get all the puppies together so you can come meet them. We guard our puppies closely, and they won't be available for public display until after their spay/neuter and final puppy shots. Probably after July 4th. If you want to meet them after that, you are absolutely welcome to attend one of our events. Available pups will be there. We do not do individual meets. This is not a reasonable option as it requires multiple fosters and an adoption representative to all be available at a certain time. A scheduling impossibility. We are all volunteers, and have other things going on as well.

And please, if you are not fully committed to adopting an MVP, don't send in the app. We spend two to three hours per application doing our review, making phone calls, talking with potentials, and scheduling adoptions. So we do get really frustrated when, after all of that, we are canceled on at the last minute. Or in mid process, when we are suddenly ghosted.

I hope that this clears up any confusion that may be out there.
A huge thank you to everyone who is currently, or has in the past worked with us in concert to adopt one of our MVPs.

We’re not liars.

We understand there are a lot of people and businesses, and yes maybe some rescues too, who depend on bu****it to get by day to day, but that’s not us. It NEVER benefits the dogs, ESPECIALLY the types of dogs we place, to be dishonest in ANY capacity.

Truthfully, it would be a hell of a lot easier to place Sweet Pea’s puppies as mutts, create some kind of mix, and give them to anyone who wanted one. Often times, we ARE left guessing and we do the best we can, but sometimes we DNA test our puppies because it’s fun to see what their mixes are. We also like to play ā€œguess the breedā€, and if you’ve been here long enough, you can attest to this.

When we pulled Sweet Pea from Fulton Co Animal Services in ATL, we were ALL under the assumption they were GSD mixes. We’ve pulled a lot of those, and have several with us right now. No big deal, right?

3 of her puppies declined significantly while waiting for transport to get them to us, and we ALL made the decision to pull those babies from transport, and give them to a rescue in ATL to bottle feed in hopes of them surviving. Here’s where the story gets fun…

They survived! And we were contacted just a little over a week ago from the Director of that rescue to inform us that they had DNA tested the puppies, and lo and behold, they were actually purebred Malinois puppies. So our job of placing GSD mixes just got exponentially harder, because we ALWAYS place our dog responsibly. Not all dogs belong in all places, and these babies were no different.

We panicked. ā€œWe don’t know anything about this breed!ā€, past the fact that they’re really cool, and they do really cool things. Which is the opinion of 99% of the human population, who should not have them. They can’t even take care of themselves.

We posted for help. Those posts spread like wildfire. And when that happens, EVERYONE has an opinion, and we’re ok with that, UNTIL they call us liars.

Here’s the DNA test results. And here’s our middle finger to those of you who had the audacity to say we’re making it up to ā€œsellā€ or place them. We hid most of those comments, because I couldn’t be appropriate in my response. 😬

Hope this clears things up. And keep in mind, mommy dear also needs placed. She, unlike what we’ve seen in the wild, isn’t nearly as crazed as her babies. She may be ok for a first timer.

Have a great day! ā˜€ļø

Chapter 2…

We got an overwhelming response yesterday confirming our suspicion regarding the lamb chop toy, that perhaps their herding and protecting instinct kicks in because it’s a lamb.

This may confirm that suspicion.

Same dog:
Attacks the predator. āœ…
Protects the lamb. āœ…

Mystery solved.

Check out yesterday’s post here, and feel free to show us if your dogs ā€œpredatorsā€ met the same demise. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14hVqnMmnRq/?mibextid=wwXIfr
