(ETA: if sharing some insight about whatâs been going on around here, upsets you to the point that you feel the need to lecture us about it, perhaps you should just keep scrolling instead. âHaving a little understandingâ goes both ways. We didnât call anyone out. Itâs a blanket statement to cover the too many to count. What weâre asking isnât unreasonable. EVERY RESCUE deals with this. Most are afraid to speak up, and when they do, they get the exact same garbage spewed at them. There have been a LOT of rescues recently who have fizzled out and pulled the plug - for these exact reasons. Theyâre tired of being trashed and walked all over by adults who should know better. When rescues are gone who is going to help the dogs??! Are YOU?)
We are so incredibly upset and disheartened by whatâs happened over the last 2 weeks. Weâve been posting, begging, for fosters and adopters. Surprisingly, and much to our glee, we received more than a fair amount. We really thought we were getting somewhere finally, untilâŠ
Three volunteers have spent well over 15 hours over the last 2 weeks processing applications for FREE, for the dogs of this rescue. CLEARLY, there is some kind of misconception out here in the community that our time isnât valuable. That your time matters more. NEWS FLASH - we are just as busy as you are, and probably more so, because we work this rescue into our personal lives, families, childrenâs extracurriculars, personal dogs, our extracurriculars that keep US going in an attempt not to burnout on rescuing dogs, and fostering sometimes multiple dogs for this rescue, because we donât utilize boarding facilities.
What has happened over the last few weeks, and actually way longer than that, but itâs time to finally say something about it, is people submitting apps in the moment, and usually posting that they did, so they can get pats on the back and âway to goâsâ only to blow us off when we try to reach out. There are only so many excuses, and when you âdidnât getâ our texts, phone calls, AND emails - weâre actually glad you âdidnâtâ because those lies show what kind of person you are.
Past the blow-offs, weâve had a LOT disappear halfway through the process once contact has been made. Weâve even had quite a few go dark after a time has been set up for us to - once again take our free time to come do a home visit. And even more disappear AFTER weâve already done the home visit, again wasting our precious time.
JUST BE HONEST.
If you change your mind, just tell us that. Donât insult our intelligence and experience with some made up story. We already know better.
This is exhausting and exactly why we went on an intake hold. Weâre headed there again. We canât function as a rescue without decent people stepping up to help. At this point weâre feeling like all of Montgomery County and beyond is one big dumpster fire.
Is it the age of the people weâre reaching or what? Seriously.
