With a tropical storm warning in the forecast and rain all week, we’re hoping for a little sunshine soon! But rain or shine, our TMH Flamingo Challenge flock keeps growing, and we’re so grateful for everyone getting involved.

One of our favorite traditions. 💗 We love visiting with the Student Government Association at Leon High as these young fundraisers kick off their annual Leon Fights Cancer campaign.

Now in its 18th year, this student-led effort has raised nearly $365,000 ❗ to support patients at the Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center. This October, the Leon Lions are setting their sights on an even bigger goal: $20,000!

And they’re already getting to work. From selling T-shirts to planning a run/walk, these students are putting their energy and big hearts behind helping their neighbors.

TMH Foundation Director Rebeccah Lutz and cancer patient Kristina Abernathy, who recently completed chemotherapy, recently spent time with teacher Joshua Stewart’s classes to encourage the students. A Leon graduate herself, Kristina shared her own experience with cancer and talked about how much community support can mean to patients and families.

The students are learning about leadership, fundraising and giving back, but most importantly, they’re showing what it looks like to rally around people in their own community. 💗

Donations from Leon Fights Cancer help:

🔬 Provide PET scans, MRIs and other imaging for uninsured cancer patients
🚗 Help patients traveling for treatment with gas cards, transportation and lodging
🏥 Bring advanced technology and treatment options to our community

🧹 Something wickedly wonderful is brewing in Betton Hills! 💗

The broomcycles are coming out, the pointy hats are going on and the witches are getting ready to ride! ✨

The annual Betton Hills Witches Ride is back, and we’re so excited to have these fabulous witches joining this year’s Flamingo Challenge! 🦩💗

On Saturday, Oct. 10, the witches will take over Harriman Circle for an evening of spooky-season fun, neighborhood magic and fundraising for local breast cancer patients.

🥂 Or simply bring a lawn chair and come mingle

The ride takes off at 6 p.m., but the magic starts at 5:30 p.m. And while the costumes and broomcycles may be whimsical, the reason behind the ride is pretty powerful: supporting local breast cancer patients through the TMH Foundation and the Tallahassee Memorial Walker Breast Program. 💗

A suggested donation of $10 per rider helps these witches turn a little neighborhood magic into a whole lot of good. ✨
